I have struggled with reading the syllabus every night, but I am going to start printing it every week to make sure I read it.
I am struggling with being able to organize my work and taking the right notes. What I was able to do was get all my work done and study effectively. What I can apply from this week is being able to use what I learned about SI measurements in my everyday life. If I was going to give myself a rating it would be a 3. Because I was able to get my work done but, I need to soak up the things I learned better then I did this week. I have a question about what is the best way for me to be able to study for the quiz coming up.
This week I struggled with vdub, but I overcame this by studying an extra day for it. I did well on studying and turning in homework. I was able to do well on this because I forced myself to focus and not get of track. One thing i learned in chemistry was to not just memorize material but also apply it, I will be using this method for all of my classes this year. Are weight and mass the same things? No weight and mass are not the same thing because one of them deals with gravity and the other one does not. This week I rate by self a 4 because I have been making good grades and I actually passed vdub. Some very cool fact about a mountain in Indonesia is more likely to erupt. The risk of major eruptions are low but they are still monitoring the volcanic mountain.
This week, my triumph was the fundamental science activity because I learned how to measure with the triple beam balance, meter stick, and graduated cylinder in physical science so this was more like a reminder.
I did well on the first chemistry quiz of the year. The reason I did good is because the amount of effort I put into studying.
My triumph this week was my first chemistry quiz. Even though I didnt make the grade I was hoping for iI can take this and learn from it and study from it.
My triumph this week was my chemistry quiz. I made a grade I was happy with, but next time I will make sure to study harder to make a perfect score.
What I was able to do was get all my work done and stay focused through the whole week. One other thing I did good was staying consistent and not forgetting classes I need to study or do home work for.
Something I have learned in chemistry that I can apply to my everyday life is checking and rereading my work and assignments before turning them in.
Something that I have learned and can apply to my life is staying on task and going step by step on everything.
To apply what I learned this week, I can use what I learned about the Q formula and use it for did I find measures in my everyday life. Also, I can use the lab that we did with the balance to find the mass of objects with everyday items.

I would rate myself 3/5, I feel like I could have done better focusing on finishing my assignment before I got distracted
To reflect on the week we learned about direct and indirect proportions which I feel like I learned pretty well. For the test I fell as I knew what do not but not how to execute it right. If I were to rate myself I would say I was a 3 just because I felt I did pretty average. I feel like for how much I studied I didn’t know it well enough. Telling me I need to change up how I study.
I rate myself 3/5 stars because I could have done a little better with staying on top of tasks, but I have still kept up with my homework and tests.
I struggle with the rounding rules of even and odd numbers, but I have been practicing them and I will hopefully get better at them.
Something I struggle with is staying on task with labs and it showed this week. I got to get in the habit to fix that.
One interesting science topic is, why Pluto stopped being a planet. Some reasons are that Pluto is even smaller then the Earths moon. Pluto also has a erratic orbit which scientists have also used as evidence to show it’s not a planet. Another interesting topic is nanotechnology and, how it can be used for medical purposes. They can use this nanotechnology to target certain cells and tissues. These materials are also same to use to in a human.
A new creation of technology is the stick-on sonar device that can track your own heartbeat. With this device, you may be able to predict a heart attack or blood clot two months before occurrence. This patch can work up to 48 hours while you play a sport and can also see equivalent to the machines in hospitals. The patch takes $100 to make; however, designers are seeking a way to decrease the cost.

Scientists are researching whether the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs had a ally. They have discover large craters in the ocean that may give us reason to believe that this is true. Some doubt this theory for a collapsed volcanic caldera or a squeezed body of salt called a salt diapir. These scientists plan to raise money to extract minerals from the crater in 2024 to discover the the Brother of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/two-asteroids-dinosaurs-impact-crater-nadir
The research scientists are doing to determine and figure out how the Milky Way abound with metals. They also determined that stars are so metal poor that they were born before the rest were created. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/milky-way-galaxy-nucleus-oldest-stars-protogalaxy
Chelsea Wood’s research on parasites determined that parasites are actually beneficial to the eco system by helping balancing out the food chain. Parasites also help preserve endangered animals by forcing other organisms (like humans) to help maintain and grow the endangered animal’s population since the parasite needs a host (being other animals) in order to live.

My triumph this week was learning how to light a bunsen burner because I read the instructions beforehand and listened in class during the experiment. I believe that I did pretty well considering this was my first time doing it.
What I did well this week was, I was able to do the lab correctly even when I made a mistake at first. Like when we’re decanting the salt/sand I made a mistake but I was able to recover from it and get the correct results for the lab.

My triupmh of the week was reading the labs because at first I didnt want to dp them but I did it to be successful in the lab.
This week, I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 stars because I stayed on top of all my tasks, I did good on my lab safety test, and I feel that I can apply the things I have learned from this week.
If I were to rate right myself I would rate myself a 4. Because I feel like I did a pretty good job paying attention and staying focused which I usually struggle to do. I also did better then last time on my test which is a good improvement.
I rate this week a 4/5 because I made a good grade on my test but I could’ve made a better grade. What I can reflect on is doing better in studying.
My goal in term 2 of chemistry is to come ready and prepared for class. I hope to meet this goal by double-checking my work, making sure I turned everything in and checking the syllabus every day.
What my goal is for the 9 weeks is be more prepared and by doing that I will read everything that is supposed to be read.
My goal for the second term is to end with a a in the class. What I’m going to do to reach this goal is I am going to make sure I get all my work done
,and make at least a b on every test that we have. This is my goal for the second term.
Dental researches have been made, and they have found that prosthetic teeth could double as hearing aids. The team first determined that dental implants transmit sound better than mastoid bone, real teeth. They have even discovered that front-tooth implants work much better than back-tooth implants. The dental implant hearing aids could offer much more comfort and improvement of sound rather than traditional hearing aids.

Researchers have found out how pearls have such a perfect symmetrical shape. They say that oysters and mussels trap irritants in minerals and proteins as protection. As this happens it makes many layers makes a perfect layered coating in order to keep the irritant in. They found out this process is called pink noise which is fluctuations of changes in thicknesses of the pearls layers.

Researchers studied keshi pearls and collected akoya pearl oysters. Also, they used diamond wire to saw the pearls into saw pieces.

If air is a homogeneous mixture, can we separate it and how if so? Yes, the separation method used for this is called fractional distillation, which is when a mixture of liquids are boiled and and the resulting vapors go up a tube and separate.
In the period table there is 118 elements, is there more elements waiting to be discovered? Yes, there is plenty of elements waiting to be discovered by humans. Sometimes scientists can even create elements and, they can even know what kind of elements they will discover next.
What is one of the ways you can discover a chemical change? Heat is one of the ways scientist can tell when it is a chemical change.
Neuroscientists may have found a new treatment for recurring nightmares. They have discovered that when you play a sound while focusing on a memory and play that same sound while going to sleep, you could reactivate the memory or strengthen it. Researchers believe that this could also help with PTSD.

Scientist have discovered the cause of uncombable hair syndrome. This is a syndrome where the hair appears silvery, spangly, and spun glass. They linked the to a enzyme PADI3 that causes this. They continued to look for other symptoms from this but found none.

Nueroscientists have discovered a targeted memory reactivation. This helps people learn and focus on something while noise is on. This helps with nightmares.https://www.sciencenews.org/article/treatment-nightmares-sleep
This week, I have been struggling with learning the rules of the chemical formulas. However, I have started going over my notes and watching the vodcasts which have really helped.
During the week I struggled to memorize the Polyatomic ions for our quiz. What I did to overcome this problem is, studying them everyday until I know them by memory.
This week I struggled with reading the syllabus and staying on track. It was slow at first but I managed to pick it up
This week, I have done well with learning how to do chemical formulas because I have practiced until I scored a hundred on the practice chemical formula assignments and the physic classroom assignments.
This week I have learned to prepare myself well with practicing the chemical formulas so I’ll be ready for the test. The assignments helped a lot with that
My triumph this was, I was able to memorize most of the important things that I needed for the test. I did this by, taking my time to make flash cards with all the notes I needed to have for the test.
Research on the cortex of the brain has caused a new brain implant to be made. This implant is able to read words from people’s thoughts. An implant like this can be an assistant in so many situations such as someone who is paralyzed and other diseases that take away the power to talk or type. Not only this, but the implant can also read in Spanish and English for someone who is bilingual. This is only the start of this new creation and there is hope for more to come.
