Chemistry 8-16-18 Lab Safety Test

CHEMISTRY: Great job with filtering and evaporating today, and great job in lab this week! Wow – you’ve learned a lot!! God bless you as you finish up studying for tomorrow’s test!

Did you read the review post earlier? Here’s the info again. In addition to the lab safety packets and the lab safety video, this is some VERY IMPORTANT information to study

  • All the lab apparatus at your lab station and in the slide show – be able to identify it all and know what all the apparatus is used for.
  • Know the parts of the Bunsen burner and how to light one.
  • Know the parts of the balance and be able to measure mass with a balance AND volume with a graduated cylinder.
  • I’ll ask you about safety control equipment and where it’s found in the lab.
  • I’ll also have the safety symbols and the information they represent on the test
  • Make sure you can both set up or draw and label diagrams for filtering and evaporating

HUGE HINT: Go back and view the earlier posts/slide shows on Lab Apparatus, Lab Tour, Lighting a Bunsen burner, Measuring Mass and Volume, etc. All of these are VERY helpful for the test!!

Also, don’t forget that the entire Exp: Lab Procedures & Techniques packet (including observations for ALL of the procedures you did as well as ALL of the questions on pages 13 – 18) is due TOMORROW.

God bless you as you study! It’s a ton of information, but you can do it!! I’ll be praying for you!!

i expect to learn how to do a scale better, i have never been good at it. I kinda learned how to this week and will like to continue to learn that and other knowledge that can help me in life.

  2. I expect to learn how chemical and physical reactions take place, what causes them, and the differences between them. From Chemistry, I hope to learn how it is used around the world in various jobs.

  3. I expect to learn about which chemicals are poisonous and which are good. I also hope to learn what chemicals to mix and not to mix.

  4. I expect to learn about chemicals during labs and how the experiments work. Also, I want to know what can and cannot be mixed.

  5. I intend to learn how to read a scale (as I have not done it before). This week I learned a lot and I am really enjoying the class.

  6. I learned how to use a scale (as I have never done it before). This week I learned a lot and am really enjoying class.

  7. This week I have learned that sometimes it is okay to ask for the tutorial before the lab starts to gain a better understanding on the lab. I have also learned that time management is a key role in the class, and I can not procrastinate when it comes to study all of the material. I have also enjoyed this week and can not wait for more too come!

We did a lot this week. We learned all of the lab equipment we will be using, and we also learned how to evaporate and measure accurately. Most importantly, I learned that I am going to have to manage my time wisely in order to stay on top of chemistry, and I will also need to study a lot more then I have for previous classes.

  9. Hey Ms. Skinner! This week of chemistry has been very challenging to say the least, but your encouragement, joy, and love for the Lord makes me want to learn more about chemistry and strive for greatness!!! I’m super excited to see what’s to come! You are truly a blessing to me and the class of 2021! I love you!

    • I expect to learn more about different chemicals, what they do, and how they react. I also expect to learn more responsibility with time management and priorities.

  10. This week I have learned a lot about lab equipment and how to use it safely. I want to learn more about chemicals and their reactions.

  11. This year in Chemistry I’m excited to do more labs and use the lab equipment. I’m excited to see how different chemicals react to each other and how much of each one needs to make things explode.

  12. I expect in Chemistry how to use all of the chemicals and how they react with each other and how we use it in every day life!!!!

  13. I expect to learn about many elements and what they make up in our everyday lives. I also am very excited about all the experiments we will do and what we will learn from them as well.
