Chemistry 2-12-16 Chapter 4 Test Overview

CHEMISTRY: God bless as you study for the chapter 4 test! Here is the overview that we did today of the chapter. SUPER IMPORTANT that you watch this vodcast as you study!!

Have you checked out the Chapter 4 Stuff to Know Sheet from Edline? Make sure you memorize the things you need to memorize so that you can apply them on the test. And practice, practice, practice, the problems and electron configurations.

What about applications for discussion? Photoelectric effect, spectroscopy, etc.? Another great idea for studying is to watch the videos that we watched in class – super helpful as you study for the test!! Check them out on the the earlier lesson web posts. Here are some of them:
Spectrum of the Stars (overivew of the results of the spectroscopy lab you did, shows the connection between our lab on spectroscopy and how we can identify elements), Emission Spectrum of Hydrogen (how we use it to know about the energy levels in an atom), Quantum Mechanics (about the roles of Bohr, Schrodinger, Heisenberg), and also Animated Quantum Mechanics.

God bless you! I’m praying for you!!

  1. This week I mainly struggled with our test we had. In class I understand everything and I am on track. While I study I understand things but I start to belivie I don’t, and then when i take the test I lose it. My mind goes absolutely blank. I am enjoying the element research. It’s neat to see how much of the elements we use.

  2. I would rate myself a 3/5 because I understood everything during class but I melted during the test and didn’t know how to do anything

  3. this week I struggled with the elements research that we did. I got close to the right information but I didn’t have it exactly right. I feel like I did good on our test we had this week. I would rate myself 4/5 for this week

  4. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. This week I struggled on the element scavenger hunt, because I really didn’t know what you wanted us to write down for the answer sheets. I soon figured out the next day and it all made sense. I read the instructions numerous times and look at the clues, which really helped me a bunch. I liked the cLab we did at Wednesday and I learned how elements in the same group have similar chemical and physical properties.

Also we did a lab on different ways of organizing the periodic table, I feel like my lab partner and I excelled on this lab. We also did a Science in the News about elements my article was about the four new elements discovered. Now we are working on researching the elements, this was very interesting to find out different facts about the elements. This week I would rate myself a 3/5 .

  12. This week in chemistry I took a test and did a lab. I’m a little behind since I missed Thursday and Friday. I’m trying to make time in my schedule to catch up on it. The lab with the periodic table lab we did helped me see all the similarities and characteristics within different groups and periods. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 because I think I could’ve studied a little more efficiently for the test.

  13. This week we’ve been doing an element scavenger hunt. I find this to be extremely helpful, because this way I can remember the elements a lot easier. We also did a test this week which I struggled with. We also did science in the news which was interesting because we had to find one with an element. Another thing we did was an activity. My lab partner and I struggled a bit more on this, but all in all I feel like I did well this week.

  18. This week I would rate myself a 4 out of 5. I struggled the first day of the scavenger hunt because I didn’t understand what to write down on the sheet. The next day I understood better what to put. I also struggled on time management on the test. I hope to improve next week.

  19. This week we had a test over chapter 4 and I felt like I did good on it. I studied days in advance spliting up my time evenly across the whole weekend. And I used the book practice test to test myself. Grade 5/5

  20. This week class was particularly hard. I did not study nearly as much as I should have for the test, but I feel like I did pass it. The elemental research we’re doing in class is really helping me understand this world we live in more and I’m super excited about it. I would rate myself a 2/5 stars.

  21. This week I rate myself a 3/5 because I don’t think I did well on the rest, but I’m confident in what we are learning now

  22. This week, I would rate myself a 3/5. I feel as though the lab, research, and test all go hand in hand with better preparing me for future endeavors involving these matters.

  23. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I studied for the test and think I did good on it. The periodic table activity was interesting to see the properties of all of the elements within a group are similar. The element research was difficult the first day but I understood it the next day and I am doing good now.

  24. I’ve been extremely stressed out this week and ive had trouble catching up but im making progress. I hoped im able to get everything i need to get done finished.

  25. This week I would give myself 4/5 stars. I worked really hard on homework, but I kind of struggled with the science in the news on the element. I really enjoyed learning about the elements. I think it’s cool to learn about the stuff we are learning and seeing it evident in nature.

  26. This week I mainly struggled with the test. I had trouble remembering some of the material so I need to study harder. The element scavenger hunt is easy for me. I would rate myself a 3/5.

  27. this week I struggled with preparing for the test. I did not study as much as I should have. I enjoy the element research we are doing right now. it is helping me understand more about elements used in everyday life. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week.

  28. This week in chemistry I would rate myself 3/5 stars because I worked very well on packet with facts about the elements. I thought I prepared well for the test. I worked wavelength and frequency problems and thought I did well on that section of the test.

  29. I would rate my self 3/5 this week. I did good on the periodic table activity this week. Doing the element worksheet on the computer helps me understand them better. The thing I could do better this week is to study the problems from the test better.

  30. This week I have been learning more about the elements by researching them for the scavenger hunt. I missed a day this week and have been catching up. This week I would rate myself a 3/5.

  31. This week in chemistry Was interesting. Looking up the elements I found out some things I wouldn’t have thought of like products they make. That was just group 1 and I can’t wait to learn other characteristics and products of the elements. This week I give myself 5 stars.

  32. This week I would rate myself A 3/5. Because I was less prepared for the test than I thought. I know there is room to improve through doing my homework. I forgot to do my science in the news also.

  33. This week my main struggle was the test. I definitely struggled with some of the Questions but i feel like I did pretty well on the equations. I rate myself a 3/5 this week.

  34. I would rate myself a 2/5 this week. I did the wrong homework the other day on accendent.I was not very prepared for class this week. But I did have a lot going besides the play but that’s not good excuse for not being on top of things. I Am going to have to work harder to check my syllabus more carefully for assignments .

  35. This week I struggled with studying for the test and applying the formulas that we learned in class. I feel like I succeeded in organizing the element cards in the lab with my lab partners. I rate myself a two out of five this week because I forgot to do the homework last night.

  36. I rate myself a 5 out of 10 this week at first i did not understand the homework but after looking through my book i understood.

  37. I rate myself a 2/5 because i did all the homework and all of the class reviews and when i got on the test i got carried away and tried to do it my way and my grade showed

  38. I give myself a 2/5 because i did all the homework and all of the class reviews and when i got on the test i got carried away and tried to do it my way and my grade showed

  39. This week I would give myself 3/5. I struggled trying to find some of the facts on the reverse scavenger hunt and it’s kind of hard knowing exactly what we need to know, but I do like the change. It’s cool because it’s a new way to learn. Also the lab we did on the properties of the periodic table was really cool. It’s cool to see how the different elements react in different ways to different things.

  40. This week I rate myself 2/5. I enjoy the scavenger hunt because it’s a change but I also like knowing exactly what I need to know. The lab on the periodic table elements was long but and we were really rushed at the end because we didn’t use all our time that wise. I’m looking forward to next week!

  41. This week was a very busy week in chemistry. I have done a lot of work on homework, the Element Scavenger Hunt, and today I worked on a lab. My partner and I figured out what to do and we did it well, but unfortunately we didn’t finish all of the lab. I also got the test back, and I was not happy with it. However, I am thankful that we will get to do the test over, and I plan to do way better.

  42. This week we continued to work on the reverse element scavenger hunt and worked on a lab. I think I did well on the scavenger hunt, but you can never be sure. I was very worried about the lab, but I worked with my partners well and we knew what we were doing. We got done with time to spare. All in all I was satisfied with this week.

  43. In class this week, I believe I did well. The scavenger hunt was not very hard and I was very happy with my test grade. The only thing I worried about was the lab yesterday, but I read over the sheet and believe my partner and I did well, I would rate a 5/5 this week.

  44. I rate myself a 4 out of 10 this week. I struggled with learning the blocks on the periodic table but after studying them and practicing with them I more understand them.

  45. This week I rate myself a 3/5 because even though i didn’t do as well as I would have liked I learned from it. I realized that I need to study differently, because although I’m studying I’m not grasping the concepts enough for the test. I’m relieved to know I can retake the test and I will prepare a plan to be more successful the next time.

  46. This week we finished the element reverse scavenger hunt and I think i have enough detail in my properties. The periodic trend lab was difficult but I think my lab partner and I did a good job on it. I could have done better on the test so I will study harder for the next one. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week.

  47. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5. The lab we did was a bit challenging but my lab partner and I worked really well and we are defiantly getting better at labs. This week I feel like I also did well on the CLab. We also got our test back and I defiantly need to get better at preparing and studying for the tests.

  48. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because my partner and I struggled with the lab. We did good time management but we were both worried we were messing up the order. Overall I think we did it good on it. We also got our test back this week and I didn’t do well at all. I am so thankful that I can retake it because I know now that I was studying the wrong way. I enjoyed doing the Clab this week and I think I’m gonna do a lot better on this test.

  49. This week wasn’t as chaotic as i thought it would be in chemistry. We mainly worked on our Scavenger Hunt and went over the metal blocks. Lab day was the most challenging in my opinion. This lab was very long and you had to pay close attention to the reactions and what happened to them in a matter of minutes. My lab partner and i completed the lab at the very last second in class because we worked slower than we should have. We read the lab completely and i took notes for my lab to make it easier and faster, but that didn’t work out as planned. For the lab, i rate myself a 9/10 because i was fully prepared but i lagged near the end.

  50. This week was very interesting. I struggled with the Periodic Trends and the properties of Elements Lab, because I only read the lab once and I tried to memorize it during the lab but I couldn’t. My partner John and I barely finished the lab in time and next time I would make sure that I fully understand the lab. I was not satisfied with my test grade, because I should of made a B if I didn’t make careless mistakes. Next I will try to finish five minutes before the bell rings to check everything very carefully. I have learned why elements are in different groups and periods. These explanations are why I rate myself 3/5 this week.
