Chemistry 2-9-23 Double Replacement & Combustion Reactions

CHEMISTRY: You realize what we did? We finished all 17 types of reactions today! Have you been practicing using them?

Are you ready for the quiz tomorrow? Have you been working on memorizing all 17 types of reactions?! Just the 17 reactions will be on the quiz tomorrow, but what about the chapter test coming up? For that, don’t just memorize them, make sure you can apply them as well.

When you start to work any equation, first determine what type of reaction it is, then figure out what rule applies and follow it to determine the products. I believe in you! You can do it!! (and yes, I realize I am repeating myself, but I do and you can!)

Physics 2-9-23 Rotational Dynamics, Pt. 1

PHYSICS – Wow! Could you do this? Here’s the lecture on rotational inertia, angular velocity, and angular momentum – rotational dynamics! We’ll pick up the conservation of angular momentum tomorrow. Fun times!

By the way – I wonder how all this applies to other rotating things…like maybe the Earth? Hmmmmm……

Chemistry 2-8-23 Single Replacement Reactions & the Activity Series

CHEMISTRY: Great job with single replacement today. Super important – ALWAYS check the activity series!!

We’ve done 15 so far – how are you doing on memorizing them?! Careful though, don’t just memorize. Make sure you can apply them as well. When you start to work any equation, first determine what type of reaction it is, then figure out what rule applies and follow it to determine the products. I believe in you! You can do it!!

Chemistry 2-7-23 Activity Series & Reactions with Oxides

CHEMISTRY: What!?! You mean there aren’t little green people on lonely country roads? 😉

Great job applying the activity series to synthesis and decomposition reactions! As you practice, go back and check the activity series and your notes on the activity series!

HW UPDATE: Because we didn’t finish single replacement reactions today, the book homework for tonight is cancelled for now. BUT that just means you have extra time to study for the quiz on Friday!

We’ve done 10 so far – how are you doing on memorizing them?! Careful though, don’t just memorize. Make sure you can apply them as well. When you start to work any equation, first determine what type of reaction it is, then figure out what rule applies and follow it to determine the products. I believe in you! You can do it!!

Hon Chemistry 2-6-23 Chapter 9 Test Overview & a Look at Advanced Problems

HON CHEMISTRY: I still say stoichiometry is a lot like baking – sometimes you just have to get in there and get your hands dirty! Here is our overview of the test from today and a look at a couple of of the advanced stoichiometry problems. I also found the rusted iron problem work all the way out from last year, so I’m posting that below as well.

Again I want to emphasize – the majority of the test is basic reaction stoichiomety, limiting reactants and percent yield. Be sure and give that the most of your study time!

Also, review writing and balancing chemical reactions. Most of the stoichiometry problems will require that you begin by doing just that! There will be just one extra jumbo large problem. You’ve got this!! 🙂

Chemistry 2-6-23 Synthesis & Decomposition Reactions

CHEMISTRY: Wow! So that’s where the pretty light comes from! Great job with synthesis and decomposition reactions.

Now go forth and practice what you learned! (The balancing equations part, not the playing with magnesium part!)
