Physics 8-15-19 Measuring in Physics, continued…

PHYSICS: Oh my gracious, I was so excited about getting the mic to work that I forgot to hit record! Here’s an old vodcast of the lesson from today from a couple years ago.

Did you remember sig figs? All this SI and calculations stuff will come back to you before you know it. Holler if we need to practice. Don’t forget to show all your work!

So why can some humans float – or not? Looking forward to seeing what you do with the lab tomorrow! 🙂

  1. School really is back, and I still cannot believe it. I would rate myself 3/5 so far this week. Negative first: I forgot to double-check whether if my google drive shared folder had the pdf version of my lab report or not! I was in such a rush and was way to excited to turn it in that I thought I had it all covered. This would be a major yikes. Positive: The three stars are for the fact that I have stayed on top of schoolwork so far (even convincing myself to complete assignments early) – specifically, all my homework and projects were piled up on Thursday and due Friday, and I took into account that I had a golf match Thursday afternoon and got some real work done beforehand!

  2. This week was a definite triumph for me. Although, it is just the beginning of the year and still ramping up. This week I finished all my homework at home and didn’t procrastinate. Also, I won the whirly-gig competition and it gave me a much needed self-esteem boost. I am hopeful this will be a fantastic year!

  3. This week was a struggle. I haven’t really got the hang of being efficient on homework so far this year. As a result, I have stayed up late for a couple of nights. Next week I’m going to plan ahead over the weekend so I can map out how I’m going to tackle not only physics but my other classes too

  4. I rate myself 2/5 stars for this week. My planning and procrastinating for school has just been absolutely destructive. I am going to catch up on some much needed z’s this weekend and hopefully do better next week. I do give myself 2 stars for finishing everything and for God giving me the dedication and perseverance to complete it all!

  5. It’s been a struggle this week. I haven’t quite gotten back into the swing of balancing school work with the rest of my life. This has caused a bit of stress and I haven’t been in school a full week yet. This weekend I plan to work ahead and try to assess my time commitments while working my school work into my schedule

  6. Yeah, I definitely have not gotten back into the swing of things yet. This week I give myself 3/5 stars because I waited until the very last minute to do my lab report (no surprise there, I am the queen of procrastination) and I lost very important hours of sleep because of it. I also stressed myself out way too much about the whirly gig competition, but I ended up doing well with that anyways! Overall, I can’t thank God enough for the strength and energy he has given me this week, especially the ability to play soccer for an hour on two hour’s sleep from staying up with the lab!!

  7. Like most of the comments above, I’m am definitely still adjusting to the work and all the new classes. I’ll need to work on my time management, no doubt, since I am a habitual procrastinator. I’ve had a flood of assignments from all my classes this week so the stress levels are quite high. Still, it was very fun building the whirly-gigs. I’ll never forget the trashcan baptism I had today. My lab-writing skills haven’t been lost, at least. As soon as I adjust, things will start getting easier. Just gotta hang on!

  8. I have had a very tough time getting adjusted. From what I can tell I think my brain understand life science more than math science and that’s ok. This week was a struggle for me because I was barely able to keep up with everything all week long. Forgoting homeworks, Messing up lab write ups and the whirly gig lab went poorly too. I plan on doing better next week cause I feel that I can be more on top of things. Also the human density lab was fun. In a weird way.

  9. This week was sort of a struggle and a triumph. My whirly gig was sort of a fail compared to everyone else and I’m still trying to get used to conversions again and the technical stuff like homework and lap report setup. But I successfully finished by lab write up (besides the indention errors in my procedure) and balanced homework pretty well! Hopefully, when volleyball games become heavy, I’ll be able to stick with my better time management.

  11. I have been on a major struggle bus this week, with procrastination due to anxiety, and major lack of sleep, but I *did* manage to finish and turn in my lab report on time, and do /most/ of my homework, which is a lot better than none. So this week I rate myself a 2/5, which yes, is technically not good at all, but better than 0 and, like I said, Struggle Bus. Next week, I will pay more attention to when my brain tells me to sleep and stay more on top of assignments, and hopefully it will be a lot better. 🙂

    I am 56 liters big. 😀
