Chemistry 1-8-18 Intro to Atomic Theory

CHEMISTRY: So how do you feel about being made from earth, air, water, and fire? Here’s the intro we did on how we ended up with the atomic theory. Had you ever heard of Lavosier, Proust, and Dalton?

Pretty impressive little theory that Dalton came up with, huh? Were you surprised as you made comparisons with the Modern Atomic Theory? Could you now take it a step further and show connections between the three laws we discussed today and Dalton’s atomic theory?

Speaking of impressive – a penny turning to gold – wow!! 🙂

Hon Chemistry 11-15-17 Intro to Atomic Theory

HON CHEMISTRY: So how do you feel about being made from earth, air, water, and fire? Here’s the very short intro we did on how we ended up with the atomic theory. Had you ever heard of Lavosier, Proust, and Dalton?

And how did you do with your comparison of Dalton’s Atomic Theory with the Modern Atomic Theory? Could you discuss it in more detail at a later date??

Chemistry 11-29-11 Dalton’s Atomic Theory vs. Modern Atomic Theory

CHEMISTRY: Wow! Pennies turned to gold? Tell me again – how you could you prove that it was or wasn’t? Hey – what a lot of theory today! So the smallest thing that can be that thing is an atom. How do we know that? Well, we have to start at the beginning, and that’s Dalton’s Atomic Theory. Great job today comparing it with the Modern Atomic Theory. Keep those examples in mind when you’re studying for the test – especially when it comes to explaining those laws.

Did you hear about the make-up lab change? It will be this Thursday at 7:15 A.M. – last one of the year!

By the way – when you listen to the vodcast, that awful clicking noise you hear just might have to do with my necklace sliding back and forth across the mic. Sorry about that! 🙂

Hon Chemistry 11-14-11 Dalton vs. Modern Atomic Theory

HON CHEMISTRY – Hey guys, here’s the lecture from Monday on the introduction to atomic theory. Isn’t God awesome to give us minds to understand the world around us – even the parts we can’t see. Good job with beginning to compare and contrast Dalton’s Atomic Theory and the Modern Atomic Theory. Are you surprised at how close they are? Make sure you can give examples to apply what you learned about the three laws we discussed today.

By the way – how did you like playing alchemist today? Did we really turn the copper penny to gold? Here’s a hint, was there evidence of a chemical change?
