Physics 4-21-21 Sound Intensity and Resonance

PHYSICS: All kinds of ways to make music! And great discussion of intensity and resonance! Were you okay with the problems?

Couple of items to apply for further contemplation – so how does the whole hearing thing work? I mean, I know the little bones in your ear move, but why? Is resonance involved? Great item for application/discussion!

  1. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I understand the notes from this week and the homework helped me to fully know the concepts. The activities we did in class when discovering how sound waves work were very fun and interesting. By doing things to produce sound and observe how the waves transfer through the air, my understanding of the chapter increased. Also, we have gotten a lot accomplished this week on our project, but we still have a lot to complete. I did good on my test last week. I could have gotten a better grade, but I second-guessed myself on a couple of the questions. Although we still have two weeks of classes, I am ready to graduate and be on summer vacation. Overall, this was a good week, and I am ready for next week.

  2. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I’ve enjoyed learning about sound and i’ve really liked the demonstrations. My test score could’ve been better though. Rube is also making me really nervous, but learning that we don’t have practice next week has eased some of the stress.

  3. This week, I rate myself a 3/5. I got ahead in my homework for this week so I wouldn’t have any on the nights of the shows. The notes this week have been good, and I feel like I understand all the concepts pretty well. I would like to be farther ahead on Rube than we are, but we are working consistently so I am not too worried about it. I thought my test grade was going to be higher than it was, but it was still good. If I keep up the hard work, I (hopefully) won’t have to take my exam!

  4. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I would have liked to do better on my test, but my grade was not bad by any means. I have not completely understood the concepts from this chapter, but I think once I review them on my own, I will be ok. My group is also making good progress on Rube since we’ve worked almost every night this week, but we still have a good ways to go. I am started to experience some real burn out, so I am really looking forward to graduation, and I am really hoping to be exempt from the exam!

  5. Imma be real with you. I’m gonna give myself a 1/5. I have just been really out of it this week. I need to get a better grip on the the material, especially in the discussion aspect. The Rube Goldberg Project is probably gonna be a photo finish.

  6. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I understood this week’s concepts, but I procrastinated my homework a bit. I am proud of my test grade, but I am very scared about finishing Rube Goldberg. Hopefully I will be able to get a lot done this weekend in preparation for next week.
