Science Exams First Thing Thursday – December 13

Awesome job with review today! God bless you as you study for your chemistry, honors chemistry, and physics exams! How are you studying? Best advice? Practice, practice, PRACTICE! Be active in studying – don’t just read over the material. Review games on the online textbook, reworking old homework problems, re-working those flash cards you’ve made – all good. Watching vodcasts of old lectures might not hurt either!

Chemistry Exam Help Session Thursday morning, 7:00 A.M.

IMPORTANT – Bring your exam review packet (and textbook, if you checked one out) to the chemistry room before you go to your exam room!

Here are the room assignments for Thursday’s exam:

Chemistry 1 Rm. 302 (Mr. Henton’s room)
Chemistry 2 Rm. 303 (Mrs. Tapp’s room)
Chemistry 3 Rm. 304 (Coach Henderson’s room)
Chemistry 4 Rm. 307 (Mrs. Berryhill’s room)
Hon Chemistry 6 Rm. 301 (Ms. DeFrehn’s room)
Hon Physics Rm. 300 (Coach Sheron’s room)

Don’t forget to bring your completed exam review packets when you come on Thursday. I’m praying for you!!

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

Exam Fuel

Come by our classroom Thursday morning before the exam for a cup of hot chocolate or cider and little white donuts!(7:00 – 8:05ish A.M.)

You’ll need to bring your exam review packet to the classroom BEFORE your exam, so while you’re at it, grab some exam fuel!

Also, don’t forget the Chemistry help session Thursday morning, 7:00 A.M. Come for exam fuel for the mind and body!!

Physics 12-6-18 Chapter 5 Conceptual Review & Such

PHYSICS: God bless you as you study for your test!! Here’s our conceptual review from Thursday. Below that is the help session from Thursday morning – #22, and #46 and #46 (from different chapters).

Thursday morning help session:

Hon Chemistry 12-6-18 Nuclear Reactors, Fission & Fusion

HON CHEMISTRY: Wow! What do you think about fission and fusion? Can you now begin to understand the destructive force of the hydrogen bomb? It’s a fusion bomb! Just another reason you might not want to plan a trip to the sun!!

We put the final touch on a lot today, and guess what? We’ve wrapped up the chapter! How are you doing on studying for the test? It will cover the beginning part of chapter 3 (through average atomic mass) and chapter 21. Did you find the Stuff to Know Sheet?

Practice everything! And did I mention, PRACTICE!! I’ll be praying for you!

Physics 12-5-18 Chapter 5 Problems Review – Pt. 1

PHYSICS: Tarzan and Jane and a look at a spring. Here’s our look at a couple of the problems from the end of this chapter – #41 and 49, I think.

Below are the answers to the Review Worksheet 2. Most were worked with g as 9.80 m/s2. Also, I think #19 must be at constant velocity.

Help session tomorrow morning, Thursday, at 7:20ish A.M. (By the way, I posted the help session from God bless you as you continue to prepare for the test! I’m praying for you!!!

3) 1090 J
4) 1350 J
5) 79%
6) 917 W
8) 9.57 kW
12) 420 N
14) 1300 J
18a) -125 N
18b) -2190 N
18c) 0.360
19) 4390 J (assume cart is moving at constant velocity)

Hon Chemistry 12-5-18 Artificial Transmutations

HON CHEMISTRY: Wow! We made artificial elements! Well, on paper at least 😉

So you can take something that’s not radioactive and make it radioactive? Here’s the lecture on the uses of radioactive isotopes from Wednesday. We’ll finish the chapter with fission and fusion tomorrow!

Help session Friday, morning, 7:20ish A.M.

Chemistry 12-5-18 Chapter 7 Test Overview

CHEMISTRY: God bless you as you study! Here’s our overview of the test from today. Below that is the Help Session from this morning. Also, did you find the Chapter 7 Stuff to Know sheet? Be sure and use it as a road map for your studying. I know it seems like a lot, but you can do it!

First priority – make sure that you have memorized EVERYTHING. Then, practice!!! Go to sciencegeek.net and make sure you can write and name chemical formulas. Practice, practice, practice!!! Then start practicing the different kinds of problems – do at least three of each one of them. And also try those on sciencegeek.net. That’s always some good practice. And don’t forget about polymers!

I’ll be praying for you! You can do it!!

Wednesday Morning Help Session

Chemistry 12-4-18 Polymers

CHEMISTRY: We finally finished the chapter! Did you realize molecules could be that large? And so many of them. But don’t you think polymers are cool? Here’s the lecture for Tuesday.

Some items for contemplation: why are certain plastics recyclable and others not…and what about dishwasher and microwave safe? Hmmmmm…

Physics 12-4-18 Power & the Horsepower Lab

PHYSICS: Great job on the horsepower lab. Not so much noise this time! I’m thinking maybe you don’t have as many physics phrustrations to work out?!? 🙂

So how many horsepower do you have? You found Watts? So how many horsepower is that? Hmmmm…..

Here’s the super short lecture from today on power. Now go forth and conquer the power problems!
