Chemistry 8-31-23 The Big Donut Problem & Other BIG Conversion Factor Problems

CHEMISTRY: We cranked it up today using conversion factors! What about the big donut problem? Can you now show your logical progression of thought? If you were absent, be sure and watch this vodcast to make sure you are doing the problems correctly. You must show correct work to get credit.

Were you able to think through the longer conversion factor problems? Remember, you’re not just trying to get an answer. Most importantly, you are learning to express a logical progression of thought – from one unit to another. Keep practicing until you can do it by yourself with no help!!

  1. This week I have applied the logical thinking used to solve Q formula to solve problems I face in other classes and it has helped me solve them easier using logical thinking.

  2. Is the quantity given always the first set of numbers in word problem. No, lots of time you have to dig deep and find which number cannot be converted.

  3. This year in chemistry I’ve learned that it helps if you plan in advance it will help you understand the material better. This also has helped me prepare in advance for other classes

  4. This week I’ve learned to apply the learning of the Q formula and the logical thinking behind it to my other classes. This makes it to where I strive to dig deep to find the correct answers.

  5. This week I’ve learned the SI unit methods and have been using the conversions to my every day life by remembering their values. In some Q formula question don’t always give you the quantity given or conversion factor right of the bat but I’ve learned how to find and sold the problems.

  6. This week, I learned how to do the Q formula and how to use SI units. I applied my knowledge by doing the homework practice that was provided

  7. This week in chemistry I’ve had to learn how to apply q-formula and most importantly why. It is important to use q formula while doing your work so that whoever is checking it can check the validity of my answer and be able to walk through my though process.

  8. I have learned more responsibility because i have to get my homework at the beginning of class. I also have to show my work only one way or it is wrong.

  9. This week I have learned how to work through the q formula. I then applied this working through the homework. I also applied this being active in the problems we solved on the board in class.

  10. I have learned to read deeper into problems to find what I am looking for. I apply this on homework and other things I may need to find.

  11. This week in chemistry I have learned how to apply the q formula. It is important to know how to use this for the homework we had this week and for future things in chemistry.

  12. This last couple of weeks in chemistry I’ve learned that procrastination will not help you. I’ve been applying that to my life in almost everything I do.

  13. Something I’ve learned in chemistry that I can apply in real life is that I’ve learned to think about things in a different way and I’ve learn procrastination is a terrible thing.

  14. This week in Chemistry, I learned how to apply the Q formula. I have been applying this formula to my classwork and homework.

  15. This week I learned that oil is more dense than water. I can use this if I ever need to siphon out water from my gas tank in my car.

  16. this week I learned how to use the Q formula and I had to apply what I learned on my homework, and how to show work properly

  17. This week I have to learned to write every step of an equation and that it is important not to forget any steps. I have also learned the Q formula, and applied it on my homework.

  18. A- If volume is always cubed, could mass be cubed?

I don’t think mass can be cubed because for one, it is not three dimensional; and two, mass is the entire object when volume has to be cubed to find the entire object.
