Physics 11-12-19 Friction & Forces on an Incline Problems Review

PHYSICS: Boxes and block, all slipping and sliding… Is it starting to make a little more sense? Here’s an old review of of some of the homework problems from this chapter – #36, 40, and 41 (I think). Below the lesson is an old help session. It has #46 – the “girl on a sled coasts down a hill” problem.

You’re getting it…keep sledding and watch out for net forces!

  1. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I studied very hard for my test this week, and I feel as though I did pretty well based on my abilities. I have learned a better way to study that works for me, and I am constantly tweaking it in order to get even better at studying for the class. Also, the lab we are working on taught me that if your first method of procedure doesn’t work, you must find a new one that works better. Next week, I will push forward until Thanksgiving break!

  2. This week would be a 4/5 for me. While I thought I did good on the test, my group and I are still struggling to find a way to solve this lab. We have tried multiple approaches, but I believe the current one will be successful. Physics is certainly teaching me to never stop and to adapt when things do not go your way the first time. Thank you Ms. Skinner. We miss you!

  3. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5. I feel like I did okay on the test. I practiced a ton on the problems. However, my lab group and I struggled on this lab. We kept getting a crazy high coefficient of friction. But then we decided to orient the block so there would be less surface area and it fixed the problem.

  4. This week was a 4/5 for me. Regardless of how I did on the test, I got lots of study time that I feel like I didn’t get on the last test. I also got all my homework done and did well on the lab. I hope to finish strong for this next month!

  5. I would rate myself with a 1/5 this week because I have been on the struggle bus and am currently on the road to living on said bus. I feel terrible about the test and o feel like I do not remember how to do anything in physics. Also the labs (both assigned and make-up) are causing me a lot of stress so it’s safe to say I’m not doing so hot.

  6. This week was a 3/5 for me. The test wasn’t too bad but that math section might be a mighty fat issue. Time was the problem again. I believe the multiple choice section was very easy. The lab is a tad confusing, but we’re doing just fine. I’ll be fine. Everything’s fine. I think.

  7. This week was a 3.8/5! I studied hard for the test and I really think I did well! If not, I can be content with the fact that tried my hardest. The lab was fun and I like working with Galin and Matty. It was a decent week! I did not get much sleep, but that’s becoming regular.

  8. This week I rate myself a 1/5. It’s been honestly disastrous, and today worst of all. Everything in my life is falling a part and I’m not doing anything to fix it. I say next week will be better, but will it, really? I got wrecked by that test, didn’t even finish three of the problems, and I forgot to turn in the things I was supposed to.

  9. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I feel like I performed well on the test. I also very much enjoyed the lab we did this week. I am disappointed with my ACT score that I received this week. I knew it would be close to a 36, and it was very close, but I barely missed it. I also had a scare in English this week because one of my grades was accidentally entered as a 31. I also was very lazy this week, which has become a theme for this entire year thus far. I enjoyed this chapter on Newton’s laws, and I am excited to get to things such as momentum. All in all, this week was a good one.

  10. This week was definitely a 2 out of 5. I love my lab group, and we work very well together. However, I can’t seem to feel confident in my performance on problems no matter the amount of effort i put in. Hopefully, my test score reflects how hard I worked, but I think that is just wishful thinking.

  11. I’d rate myself a 3/5 because honestly I think I did bad on the test but my group figured out the lab pretty quickly and got it done! Since my test grade doesn’t define me, I really don’t have anything to worry about besides doing my best up until graduation!

  12. This week I would rate myself a 2/5. I let other obstacles distract me from what I should be doing. My health wasn’t the best. I definitely could have prepared better for that test somehow. I feel like a mess from this past week. It’s been a long one! I don’t know how I could have made it better, but I’m starting off next week with a doctor’s appointment (and not school haha), so maybe it will be better! However, I do give myself those 2 stars because I survived, and I did not do anything crazy. This week, I will try harder to focus!

  13. This weeks topic is what i’m thankful for. I am thankful for my family and friends. I am also thankful for the many blessings God has given me.
