Chemistry 4-23-15 Describing Chemical Reactions

CHEMISTRY: So tell me again – how do you know if a chemical reaction has occurred? Here’s the lecture on the evidences of a chemical change and the intro to balancing chemical equations. Great to be back to chemistry!

  1. This week I learned about different types of chemical reactions. I learned that some compounds decompose in their reactions to form the elements that make up the compound.

  2. In chemistry this week we learned about different types of chemical reactions that happen to produce specific chemical equations. Synthesis reactions take two elements and combine them together. Decomposition reactions decomposes 2 element into its made up elements. Single replacement reactions replace the least reactive element with the more reactive element. Once the product has been decided, the Law of conservation of mass must be fulfilled, represented the whole number coefficients.
