HON CHEMISTRY: So what do you figure is the half-life of a banana? But I digress…. Here’s the lecture for Friday on half-life problems. Keep thinking these problems through – listen to the story they’re trying to tell you, and you’ll do great.

Have fun with the half-life simulation lab! Be sure and post your data in the Half Life Lab web post by the time listed on the syllabus. Don’t forget to include pics and your graph! The lab report is to be submitted as a PDF 2X by the due date listed on the syllabus. πŸ™‚

This lesson includes info on how to write nuclear equations. Don’t forget to memorize the nuclear symbols for alpha particles, beta particles (electrons), positrons, neutrons, and protons. Not nearly as bad as polyatomic ions, huh?!?

Have any of you decided you want to get a head start on the half-life simulation lab? Don’t let it stress you out! It’s one of easiest labs you’ve done. But it does require that you READ the instructions on the syllabus and the website. If there is something you still don’t understand, make sure you ask me, I’ll be glad to help!
