HON CHEMISTRY – Who knew we’d be doing geometry in chemistry?!? Here’s the lecture on molecular geometry, with a little practice at the beginning on polyatomic ions. Molecular geometry is super easy. Make sure you know how to draw Lewis structures, then determine the type of ABE structure and you’ve got it. Easy-peazy!
For Tuesday: Homework is Thursday night’s homework. Also, print off the cLAB: 3D Molecules, but you don’t have to pre-draw the structures ahead of time. We’ll use the laptops in class to make some molecules. Have a great extra long weekend!!

Thank you so much for posting the video from today.
It is so interesting to see all the different shapes that each different compound can form. And it is neat how it works out that you can figure out the shape of the compound by only looking at the central atom.
Polyatomic atoms make so much more sense now with the Lewis Structures! Although, I’m really glad we already memorized them. The Lewis Structures explain why they have their specific charge!
I have always wondered what the lines between elements went… now I know that it’s just the covalent bond between elements.
I really enjoyed doing the lab today in class. It really helps to give us an idea of how atoms and compound truely look.
