  1. In the past few years, the Hubble space telescope has given us confirmation on the first lone black hole, and showed us new rocks made by spacecraft-asteroid smashup. The Hubble spacecraft has been “a huge asset”, said Peter Scheyna, we are lucky to have it currently in our scientific world.

  2. In August 2005 hurricane Katrina hit all around the gulf. Researchers and people are asking if after 20 years if we are better prepared if another hit since it has been so long. The forecasters say they are able to see if a hurricane is coming and how powerful it will be now, but it is clear that the country is not prepared for another.

  3. The Tijuana River in San Diego CA, is producing abnormally large amounts of hydrogen sulfide into the air, thousands of times higher than the typical urban amounts. It is formed by sewage breakdown and can easily be recognized for its rotten egg smell. It is currently being investigated due to its effects on air quality and health risks it may pose to the community.

  4. The Hubble Space Telescope, changing the way we see the world beyond earth, has been outstanding resource for observing outer space for many years. From finding comets, galaxies, rocks, and even a black hole, the Hubble Telescope is a remarkable piece of technology.

  6. In late August 2005 a devastating hurricane hit, Hurricane Katrina. This hurricane destroyed 3 states and had 1,800 fatalities. 20 years after katrina people are questioning if the U.S. is better prepared for another hurricane? Studies show that after Katrina The Federal Emergency Management Agency was “overwhelmed” by the disaster Katrina caused. Fortunately now forecasters’ have the ability to estimate how powerful it will be and let people know in advance. But, it is known that this will counteract those gains. With all this information, it is clear the country is not better prepared for another horrible hurricane. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/hurricane-katrina-anniversary-prepared

  7. Scientists discovered that a polluted river was causing air pollution which is causing respiratory illnesses to children. Because water has never been seen as a contributor of air pollution this article was very interesting.
