CHEMISTRY: How about cranking it up a notch?! First we did binary ionic compounds, and now, let’s tackle formulas with polyatomic ions. Something absolutely necessary – you have got to memorize polyatomic ions – or better yet, learn them! And practice, practice, practice!!
Another great idea, click here for a copy of the Hints for Naming Chemical Formulas Flow Chart, or find it under the Worksheet/Handouts Tab. Follow it every time you name chemical formulas!!
This week I struggled with less than I feel like I normally do. I feel as if I studied harder and for longer periods of time. The one thing I feel as if I need to work on doing better is knowing what assignment is due on each day. I look forward to continuing on bettering myself week by week.
This week I struggled with finding chemical formulas and finding the Roman Numeral. I was able to understand these things better by listening closely in class, practicing at home, and doing practice one and two.

This week I have not had many struggles, so far chemical names and formulas haven’t been difficult. The only thing I have struggled with this week is staying on track with the online homework, I put it off until the last minute. To overcome this issue I am going to start doing it earlier rather than procrastinating.
this week I struggled with studying for the polyatomic ions quiz. to overcome this struggle, I put my phone away and made sure I couldn’t hear it and I wrote down all the ions and said them aloud to make sure I fully understood them
I struggle with staying interested in class and writing down the right notes while Ms. Skinner is teaching the lesson. To overcome this I try to listen the best I can and have started to paraphrase a lot of things to write down more information. I have done better with being involved in class and responding to the questions she is asking. I do this so I can learn better and make sure the information processes in my brain.
This week did not have much struggle in it because I did well on my quiz. I could do better with not procrastinating my homework.
On Monday I struggled in class taking notes and informal questioning. I still am not 100%, but after rewatching the vodcast and doing further research I am more on track. If I continue to practice chemical names and chemical formulas then I am sure I will be right on track.
I have been struggling with my chemistry grade so for this quiz i studied extra hard and also different ways that i would usually so that i can make a good grade and hopefully bring up my average.
This week i struggled with procrastination whrn studying for the quiz which ultimately led to me being stressed out the night before the quiz whrn i was trying to learn the polyatomic ions. Moving forward I plan to set a time during the days leading up to the test to study and focus on what we learned that day and days previous to refresh my memory leading up to the test or quiz.
This week I struggled with my study methods. I decided to use a different method of studying for the quiz, and it did not work. To improve this, I will use my old method that I know works in the future.
This week I struggled using the right methods to study for the polyatomic ion quiz. I wrote down and made flashcards however I didn’t continuously write them down. To improve this i’ll not only write them down but say them simultaneously.
This week i struggled with staying ahead. I didn’t prepare for my quiz the way i should have. I waited till last minute causing me to forget polyatomic ions before the quiz. To fix this i will prepare better.
This week I struggled with the polyatomic ions quiz. I think i sped through the quiz too quickly and did not read the. problems right. To help fix this struggle I will slow down when taking my time, re-read the questions- granted I have enough time-, and study better.
This week I struggled with memorizing the polyatomic ions and I’ve been pushing them off too much.I need to start actually looking through and memorizing all of them so I am prepared for the chemistry.
This week I have struggled with learning how to name and identify the polyatomic ions for my quiz so I studied each ion very carefully so that I could learn them and do good on my quiz.
This week I struggled with time management, I started studying late for the quiz and waited until the last day to do my online homework. I can also pay better attention in class while taking notes. I can fix this by doing my work in advance, and making sure I am prepared for the next test by taking better notes, and paying attention in class.
I haven’t had many struggles when using and applying chemical formulas. I actually have found this the most understanding thing we have done all year. One thing i can say to help my grade is not pushing my homework off until the last minute. Instead i can get on homework early to relieve stress.
Something I struggled with this week is the weekend homework. I didn’t think much of checking the syllabus this weekend, and so i almost forgot about the chemical formula practice 1 homework.
I can fix it by checking the syllabus more thoroughly
This week I have struggled with preparing for and memorizing the polyatomic ions.
I can fix this by not waiting until the night before to memorize and study for tests and quizes so I’ll be better prepared.
This week I struggled with spelling the polyatomic ions and writing the roman numerals in the transition metals for chemical formulas. I can fix this by going back to the vodcast and studying a little sooner on upcoming quizzes.
The only thing I struggled with this week was naming binary covalent compounds in Chem. Formula Practice 3. At first I forgot some of the rules with the prefixes and I would often misspell the compounds. I then reminded myself by going through notes and with the help of others I was able to complete the assignment and understand the material.
This week I struggled wut staying on top of my assignment and checking my syllabus for upcoming assignment and labs. I will overcome thus by setting a reminder to check and print my syllabus Sunday night.
I did not check my syllabus this week and it resulted in me getting a 0 on my homework. To improve this I will check the syllabus when I get home and finish my homework at home before I do anything else.
This week my biggest struggle was that I forgot that I was supposed to retake my test on Tuesday because I thought it was Monday since we did not go to school. I mixed my days up and therefore had to ask Mrs. Skinner if I could take it Wednesday. I do not want to be unorganized that way again, so to improve this I am going to set alarms to remind myself when I have things coming up the next day.
I struggled with studying without using a proper study method. So this week I studied the polyatomic ions by writing them down on flash cards to help study them. I think this method worked pretty well, because I feel like I know the polyatomic ions pretty well.
This week is struggled with making time to study for my polyatomic ions quiz. One thing I bettered about myself this week was staying more on top of my notes and assignments.
This week, I struggled with time management as I waited until the last night to study for my Polyatomic Ions quiz. I think I did good on it, but i definitely could have known the information better. To overcome this, I will begin studying 2 or even 3 nights before the next test.
This week I struggled with being prepared for class and getting the assignments done in class. I will solve that problem by making sure i have printed the worksheets out and not procrastinating in class.
This week I struggled with procrastination. I waited till the last minute to study for the polyatomic ions quiz. To fix this I will study in advance and not wait till the morning before to make flashcards.
This week I struggled with the polyatomic ions. I waited too long before I started to study and regretted doing this. For the next quiz or test, I will study further in advance as well as spend more time studying.
This week I struggled with balancing my english and chemistry work. I had multiple assignments that i procrastinated or didn’t do my best work in because i didn’t give myself enough time for it. I will fix this by using my study hall time more effectively and working on checking my syllabus the weekend before the week starts.
This week I haven’t struggled as much as I usually do because I have stayed focused in class and understood all the new information we have learned. One thing I could always improve on is working harder and efficiently in homework and not rushing when I don’t have to.

I will improve this in the future by looking at the syllabus at the beginning of the week and going ahead and completing my work before the last minute.
This week I struggled with the science geek because I did not really understand the concept of Chemical Formulas. But, I looked at my notes and I finally understood it.
This week I really just struggled with remembering what and when things were due like my homework. That’s just because I have been really busy. But despite this I think I actually understand polyatomic decently well.
This week I struggled memorizing the polyatomic ions for the polyatomic ions quiz. I overcame this by making flashcards and reviewing the flashcards any time I had a spare moment.
This week I struggled on studying for both English and Chemistry all together. This resulted me into not knowing what I am doing in English, but knowing everything I needed for Chemistry. To solve this, I need to learn how to balance out how to study for each individual class and not put all my focus into one class.
