  1. Triumph: my triumph was knowing what I was doing during the lab.
Struggle: I struggled with doing the lab too slow

  2. Today I enjoyed the Oobleck lab with the fire drill, but I need to work on my time management so I have more time for cleaning. Today was cutting it too close for comfort.

  3. Using the scientific method today helped me to better understand that the method isn’t always a set list, sometimes it’s a circle; interchanging the order of the steps.

  4. The Oobleck lab was fun today, but I need to work on my time management as my partner and I were done just a little bit before the bell rang. This week I would rate myself a 4/5.

    • Reflection/Rate: I rate myself and my partner a 5/5, because we had a very efficient lab together this week. We managed our time well and successfully made the Oobleck. We also worked very well together and finished early. Overall I am very proud of my partner and myself for a success lab this week.

  5. i rate myself a 4/5 for this week. At the beginning of this week we worked with computers and that was very stressful considering the fact that i had 5 computers on one day. Evernote and Google Drive were frustrating to set up but in the long run it is very helpful!! scanning your labs and homework is very convenient and easy for everyone!! Yesterday was a successful lecture day. i got all the notes down and understood that the scientific method is not always in order. it’s almost like a circle, that you can start from any point and mix up the order. Today, we did the oobleck lab! The oobleck lab was a lot of fun and i enjoyed it a lot. One thing i can improve on this week is paying attention to directions thoroughly. Another triumph i had this week was reading the lab before i come in class. this allowed me to have my time managed and helped me a lot!!! i enjoyed this week very much.

  6. My two lab partners and I did tremendously well in the lab today. I’m pretty sure we were the only group to correctly read the directions and get three( One for each group member) powder solutions in our class at first, very proud of us.I would rate myself 5/5 paying great attention during the lecture and doing very good in the lab today.

  7. Application: I really enjoyed class this week! It was very enlightening, and I think that I got a lot out of it! I never really thought about how we use the scientific method in our everyday life. Also, I was reminded that I don’t need to be afraid to speak up, even if my answer is wrong.

  8. Triumph: This week in chemistry I would rate myself a 4/5. The beginning of the week was stressful, knowing there was a lot to complete and many steps to follow with the computers (Google Drive and Evernote). However, I now understand and am proud of the work I achieved. I was also engaged in the lessons and thoroughly understood what was being taught. My partner and I got our lab done quickly and efficiently, getting done everything we needed to.
I have also improved on my problem of second guessing myself and hope to keep improving this struggle throughout the year!

  9. Today I learned that the scientific method is more than a set list. I also learned that I can work fast but also well when I am under a time crunch in the lab. I would rate myself a 3.8/5 this week.

  10. S: My struggle is that I didn’t managed my time well and that I didn’t read the instructions. I took my time cleaning the lab equipment, which resulted into me being late for class. I plan to work on this by reading the syllabus (on time), and to work faster.

  11. Triumph: Today with the Oobleck lab, my partners and I worked well together and more efficiently. We have come up with a system of sorts that allowed us to get done quickly and without any errors. I’m also very proud of myself for being more prepared for this Lab then I have been for the other labs. I rate myself a 4/5 stars for this week.

  12. I would rate myself a 4/5 for this week in Chemistry. In the beginning of the week, it was very difficult working with the computers! Keeping a good attitude and staying positive, I was able to sign up for Evernote and turn in my assignments on Google Drive. To improve, I need to work on only writing down main topics while taking notes! The oobleck lab was a lot of fun, and my lab partner and I finished in plenty of time to discuss our questions! I cannot wait for another week in Chemistry!

  13. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I have improved on time management and making sure I understand how to do the lab before I come into class. Staying positive was what got me through this week. At first, with the technology, I thought this was going to be a stressful week, but turns out it was fun! I need to improve on my note taking skills and writing quicker. I enjoyed the Oobleck lab very much, and overall it was a great week!

  14. I triumphed this week during the ooblek lab because i have had experience with it before but i still need to work on my time management. I need to clean up a little bit faster

  15. Triump: I would rate myself a 5/5 this week. We did lectures, reading, and questions. On Tuesday I read, and then Wednesday answered questions. I had no problem reiterating the information for the questions, because Ms. Skinner had lectured about it, and I had taken notes.
Struggle: My only struggle this week was time. On Thursday we did the Oobleck lab, and with the fire drill and taking notes I was worried that we would not have time to finish. But at the end of the day we had plenty of time to finish the lab and answer questions.
This week I learned that the scientific method is not just something you apply to science.

  16. This week I learned the importance of the scientific method and how it is used in almost every situation. I feel like I did very well with following the directions with the oobleck and understanding what the lab was about. I now know the scientific method is not a boring process but a journey of exciting questions and answers

  17. This week I struggled with using the computer to turn stuff in. Once my partner showed me how to get all of the work done I understood better. This week I rate myself a 4/5 since my partner and I finished the lab on time without messing it up.

  18. This week I learned how to create PDFs and I also learned more about the Scientific Method.
Struggle: At the beginning of the week, I had a little trouble with creating a PDF by scanning in my papers, but by the end of the class, I figured out how to create them and share them with my folder. Additionally, I struggled with taking notes from the slides before we moved on to the next slide. Next time, I am going to abbreviate more and write faster.
Triumph: I did well with time management during the oobleck lab on Thursday. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week because I had improved on my time management, and I understood the lab before I came to class, but I need to improve on note taking.

  19. Struggle: I struggled with time management on the Oobleck lab. My lab partner and I were the last ones done and we were still finishing up as the bell rang. But, to fix this I can start coming to class earlier and starting as soon as I can. Also, when doing the lab I can work on being better about everything not being perfect knowing that mistakes are ok in chemistry and I can learn from them.

  20. This week I really didn’t struggle with anything. I triumphed in using the computers really well and taking good notes on the scientific method and SI units. I learned how to put PDFs into a class folder and how to apply the scientific method into our lab this week. I would rate myself a 5/5 stars for this week.

  21. I struggled this week with the SI system. Im going to have a hard time transitioning from imperial units to the SI system. I’ll improve on this after I start using it more and getting more familiar with it.

  22. This week my group and I struggled with Applying our safety procedures when we broke glass. I triumphed with taking good notes during class. I learned how to convert a file into a pdf and use google drive.I would rate myself a 4/5, we struggled but we fixed it quickly and got back to work.

  25. Triumph: I was able to finally finish a lab within a reasonable time and not have to rush.

Struggle: not reading the book well enough for discussion, so I need to make sure I do that.

  26. I would rate myself 4/5 for this week. I felt as if I did a good job during the lab. It was hard for me to keep up with the notes during the lecture though.

  27. I feel as though I triumphed this week. I started off sort of frustrated by some technology troubles; however, by Tuesday’s class, I was able to get it all figured out, and I even finished before most people! Another disadvantage I had was missing a day, but I’m happy that I was able to catch up to everyone else. Also, I was able to complete the lab rather quickly, and I feel as though I managed my time well. Hopefully next week goes even better!

  28. I rate myself a 4/5 this week I’m not good at working with the computers but once I started working with it I got the hang of it. I know I’m going to have to work with these SI units but if I just study and work with them it won’t be a problem.

  29. This week I rate myself a 4 out of 5. My triumph was being able to quickly understand how to work with the computers and understand all of the uploading involved in sharing a document. I struggled in not being able to write down notes quickly enough but i plan to be improved on my note taking skills by next week. I had lots of fun working with the oobleck and can’t wait tell our next experiment!!

  30. Hey Ms.Skinner! I rate my myself as a 4/5 stars this week. I say this because I succeeded this week at many things that I had struggled with last week. For example, my biggest triumph was yesterday in the ooblek lab when I was able to do it all in that class period, and I wasn’t rushing to clean everything up. Even though I did succeed at lots of things this week, I did struggle with a few tasks. A big struggle of mine was the setting up of the google drive folder correctly; technology is always difficult for me to cooperate with. Thank you for reading!!

  31. This week I believe I had a triumph. My lab partner and I communicated better than we did last week. We work efficiently but we don’t waste any time. This week I believe my struggle was reading the lab. Although I did print it the night before, I didn’t thoroughly read through it. I read through it extremely fast, so it took me a tiny bit longer than usual to get started. I will make sure to thoroughly read through my next lab. I give myself a 4/5 because I think my partner and I did well on the lab and understood it.

  32. This week I was able to copy all of the notes and not miss anything important. In the Oobleck lab we were slow in the beginning but picked up our pace. We were able to complete the lab and clean up with plenty of time to spare. I give myself a 4/5 because I started of slow in the lab but overall I went in a timely manner.

  33. Struggle: Today we learned about the SI system and I struggled to learn that. I also struggled with working quickly in the lab.
Triumph: My partner and I worked very well together this week. We did well at knowing what our jobs were and getting our work and lab done.

  34. This week in chemistry I had triumphs and struggles. I started off the week struggling with the technology assignment, however the next day I experienced a triumph when working on the Tech. 101 Assignment by solving one problem at a time. I’m going to have to make sure to read and re-read the reading assignments in the book. I’ve come to enjoy the labs but I expect them to become more difficult in the future and I will prepare for that as the school year goes on. Also, I’m going to have to learn how to abbreviate in my notes so I don’t get left behind. This week I would rate myself 4/5, maybe a lower score of 3.5/5 because I struggled with the technology assignment. Looking forward to a great year of Chemistry!

  35. This week in Chemistry I can honestly say I have had more triumphs than struggles. I did very well with the technology 101. On the other hand I really need to get used to taking notes the right way so I don’t get behind. I highly enjoyed working with the Oobleck lab, it was very eye-opening to find out that everything is not as black and white like we have always been told. This week I rate myself a 4 out 5. I’m looking forward to what we have up next.

  36. I would rate myself 3/5 this week. I was very frustrated and struggled with everything with the computers. But my lab partner and I did well with the lab.

  37. This week I learned that everything is not as black and white in chemistry as it may seem. I struggled with trying to write down everything from the notes instead of abbreviating. My triumph this week was being able to work quickly and not take too long on certain parts of the lab. I had applied what I had learned from the notes on the powerpoint to the oobleck lab. This week I would rate myself a 4/5 stars because I worked efficiently during the lab, but I need to work on taking notes better. Why is it important to not write everything down from the board when taking notes?

  38. This week I would rate my self 4/5 stars. The beginning of the week was difficult with the new technology and having to have everything set up correctly . This week with the oobleck lab I was able to understand the scientific method better than I had in the past. I was able to apply the process and work through the lab understanding it completely. My main struggle this week was with time management, with the technology and the lab I did not watch my time which caused me to go over the amount of time in the class period.

  39. Struggle: Me and my partner ran a little behind during the lab. We had to leave for the fire drill which caused the cleaning to go on a little after the bell rang.
Triumph: I understood the lesson and took good notes. Me and my partner followed the instructions on the Oobleck Lab and we knew what we were doing. We read the instructions prior to entering the lab and that helped with our efficiency.

  40. This week in chemistry i had a lot of fun with the Oobleck experiment
I think one thing i need to work on is reading and then rereading the lab sheet to get full understanding of what I am doing this week in chemistry i give myself a 4/5 this week was great

  41. Struggle: When we started the Oobleck project our partner broke the stirring rod and flipped the Oobleck over and we cleaned it up and got back on track

  42. This week I had a difficult time with note taking. Something I did good this week was following instructions during the lab. This week I learned how to work google drive and turn in work through turn it in. I’d rate myself a 4/5 overall for following instructions and knowing exactly what to do.

  43. Something I struggled with this week was not overthinking things like the slide during notes. When I found out the answer, it made me start to think about new ways of learning and thought process. Something I did good was following instructions during the lab. I read everything over and it helped me greatly with time. This week it was very helpful learning how to work the technology. I would rate myself a 4.5/5. I felt as if it was a very successful week for me, and I learned a lot of information through the notes as well as technology info.

  44. I would rate myself a 4/5 for this week. I understand how to use accounts sub as Evernote and Google Drive now. I also really enjoyed the Oobleck lab; however, I still need to work on time management. I also triumphed by taking good notes and I enjoyed making observations by looking at the different pictures.

    • I would rate myself a 4/5 for this week. I understand how to use accounts such as Evernote and Google Drive now. I also really enjoyed the Oobleck lab; however, I still need to work on time management. I also triumphed by taking good notes and I enjoyed making observations by looking at the different pictures.

  45. This week I struggled with abbreviating and taking my notes quickly. As we move further into our notes I will work on writing faster and keeping things short.

  46. This week I struggled a little with taking notes, but I feel I did well working on the Tech 101 assignment. One thing I should do in the future is reading the lab sheet a couple times to better understand what i’m doing in the lab.

  47. This week I rate myself a 4/5. Me and my partner had many triumphs this week. I took notes and I read my labs the night before we completed the lab. Me and my partner went straight outside when the fire alarm went off, we went straight outside without removing our aprons. We struggled with cleaning our lab stations quickly. Next time we need to do a better job of cleaning our lab stations.

  48. This week I would rate myself about 3.5/5 stars. I have done a good job of paying attention in class and taking notes, but it is starting to take a long time to do labs. To improve myself I will read the labs more thoroughly before I go into class so I can better understand what I am doing. I will also try my hardest to stay focused at all times so that no time is wasted.

  49. This week I would rate myself 4/5 stars because this week I got into things really well and I’m really getting the hang of things around the lab. My partner and I are communicating excellently and working efficiently. The only problem I have is to make sure to thoroughly read instructions and also stay focused and pay attention to time so that I can finish in ample time.

  50. Triumph: Yesterday I succeed at making succeed with my group. We worked efficiently and together. Getting all the supplies for each other and helping each other made us work quicker and like a system. When doing the succeed lab we also got it all done, wrote our answers, cleaned up and got our equipment off and put up before the fire bell went off which to me is a triumph itself.
