Chemistry 11-17-15 Polymers

CHEMISTRY: We finally finished the chapter! Did you realize molecules could be that large? And so many of them. But don’t you think polymers are cool? Here’s the lecture from Tuesday. Don’t forget the Polymer Worksheet! Put the answers on sheets of notebook paper.

Some items for contemplation: why are certain plastics recyclable and others not…and what about dishwasher and microwave safe? Hmmmmm…

TEST FRIDAY on ALL of Chapter 7 – and parts of chapters 3 and 22! How are you doing on making your own “Stuff to Know” sheet? 1) What do yo need to know, 2) What do you need to be able to do?, and 3) What do you need to be able to apply? When you are finished with your own list, check it with the the Stuff to Know Sheet on Edline.

Help Session this Thursday at 7:20ish A.M. Praying for you! You can do this!!!

  1. This week we have conquered polymers I really liked this because it was very undertandable but I’m really gonna have to work on it for this test and the best way I can do that is to look at things and thing are they classified as linear, cross linked, or branched.

  2. I’ve had a successful week of chemistry so far. I’ve completed the v-lab and gotten a lot of good homework grades. We also learned about polymers yesterday. It doesn’t seem that difficult to understand. Now I have to study really well to do well on this test on Friday.

  3. This week in chemistry, we learned about polymers and reviewed. polymers were fairly easy to learn. It’s memorization and application. We had a very big test this week which put a lot of stress on everyone including me. I spent awhile studying and practicing problems in order to pass this test with flying colors.

  4. This week we did a virtual lab to start and then learned about polymers. I would give myself a 10 out of 10 on the lab just because I understood it really well and sometimes i get the formulas mixed up but this time i got it from the very beginning. Now it is time to study for the test!!!

  5. I enjoyed learning about polymers and how they are used in every day life. it is interesting to know about the different types of polymers, and how some of them are heat resistant and water resistant. However, I found the polymer worksheet to be hard because I could not fully explain the reasons. I rate myself a 3 out of 5 because I struggled with the homework.

  6. I really enjoyed the lab we did today in class. It was really easy for me and my partner because we came to class with a plan. We completed it easily in the amount of time given. I would rate myself a 5 out of 5.

  7. Polymers are fun to learn about and I really miss you being gone Tuesday and Wednesday . I was slightly confused on some of the info an wish you would have been there to explain more in-depth . The polymer lab was cool and I learned a lot from it . Having hands on examples is my favorite way to learn something new.

  8. This week in chemistry we reviewed for the test and learned about polymers. Polymers were relatively easy to learn I just hope I don’t get the different structures mixed up on the test. I’m a little worried that on the test I might get formulas for things mixed up but i hope with more practice I’ll get everything right.

  9. This week in my opinion has gone rather well. I have a good understanding of polymers and the material in chapter 7. I enjoyed the lab this week although my partner and I barely got done before class ended because we weren’t as prepared as we should have been. I will be sure to come in more prepared for the next lab because that is something that I can work on going forward. I rate myself 3.5/5 mostly because of the preparation we had for the lab and my understanding of the materials that we’ve gone over during the week.

  10. Working with the Polymers today in the lab was a fun lab. I enjoyed it the most out of all the labs we have done so far. Learning how to determine the polymers and their structures was quite enjoyable.

  11. I really enjoyed this week in chemistry. I also enjoyed the lab we did today. Learning about polymers was pretty easy. I would rate myself 4/5 stars.

  12. I learned about a numerous amount of things before the test we are about to take tomorrow and it feels like we have been doing all of this since we started school. I feel like I have everything down though. I learned a lot about polymers etc. and its only hard if you don’t practice and ive practiced and practiced till ive had a headache

  13. This week we wrapped up chapter 7. It took a long time to go through and it was a lot of information, but I am pretty sure ive got it all down for the test tomorrow. The review games and flashcards really helped me study. I rate myself 4.5/5 this week.

  14. We learned about polymers this week in class. My lab partner and I improved this week because we knew exactly what to do in this lab. I would rate myself a 5/5 this week because I paid attention in class and did good in lab. Looking forward to next week!
