is it ok if we leave early from the help session?
Alison – Sure! It’s come and go – whenever you need to.
how do u calculate a significant figure
Garrett – What do ya need help with?
In a number like 3.098 is the zero a significant figure?
Yes. It is an embedded zero. Embedded zeros are always significant.
When you have the number 6.4105 as the sum of two numbers and need to round to the tens place, does the 0 change to a 1?
No. You don’t pay any attention that zero. The 1 will tell you what you need to round the 4 to. (I’m assuming that you meant the 10ths place)
I really learned new facts about sig figs today. It was really challenging.
I think that I am really getting the hang of the sig figs.

Brandon – We’ve missed you!! I hope you are feeling better. Glad the vodcasts are helping! Hope to see you tomorrow!!
Do I need to get notes from a friend for Wednesday when I missed? Was there anything else I missed?
Ashley – We missed you yesterday! I’d watch the vodcast from the day you missed and take notes on it yourself, if I were you. Holler if you need help!
How do you divide sig figs?
Rachel – Check your notes, I think it’s there. You use the least number of sig figs in the problem for the sig figs in your answer. π
When I first looked at all of our homework for the past week, I thought I was going to either have a heart attack or go completely brain dead, but now I think I am starting to get the hang of things and don’t mind doing the problems. Your powerpoints in class and the podcasts have helped me alot.
Judy – That’s great! I’m glad it’s starting to come together for you!!
Ms.Skinner, since we have learned the sig figs, should we abey the rules of the sig figs in the labs?
I mean when we calculate something during the labs should we obey the rules all the time?
Lily – Always! π
