Chemistry 2-6-24 Decomposition Reactions

CHEMISTRY: What!?! You mean there aren’t little green people on lonely country roads? πŸ˜‰

Good job on decomposition reactions today! And then when we get to moving – I have to go and add guidelines from the activity series that complicate things. Really though – they just offer more explanation of what really going on in the world.

Here’s our discussion of the five decomposition reactions and the parts of the activity series that guide us through forming oxides and decomposing oxides.

Chemistry 2-1-24 Synthesis Reactions

CHEMISTRY: Wow! So that’s where the pretty light comes from! Great job with synthesis reactions.

HW UPDATE: Change the book homework for Friday night to this: Pg. 283 – 286: 17, 22, 38, and 40

Now go forth and practice what you learned! (The balancing equations part, not the playing with magnesium part!)

Hon Chemistry 1-19-24 Assignment for Friday

HON CHEMISTRY: So what do you think about reaction stoichiometry? Today you’ll practice what you learned yesterday with an assignment from the online textbook. Don’t forget there are also textbook pages here on the class website – check the tabs at the top.

Don’t forget to use the keys – and the roadmaps! And here are some answers so you can check your work.

Hon Chemistry 1-18 & 19-24 Stoichiometry

HON CHEMISTRY: Today you get a head start on the next chapter – and you get to see why it’s so important to be able to write and balance chemical equations! Interact with the vodcast! Answer out loud, take notes, make a list of any questions you have. For Friday, you’ll do the “homework” that usually goes with that lesson.

In the meanwhile, don’t forget that you’ll have a test pretty soon after we get back. Check the syllabus for the date – and continue studying and practicing for that!

So what do you think about reaction stoichiometry? Were you able to apply what you remembered about moles from earlier this year? Don’t forget the keys! Now all you need is some practice and you’ll have it down pat!!

Physics 1-18 & 19-24 Torque & A Look at Rotational Equilibrium

PHYSICS: Happy Snowpocalypse! Today you get a head start on the next chapter. Here’s a short look at torque and another kind of equilibrium.

And if I’m not mistaken – there’s a lab report due soon? Hmmmmm….

So how’s the balance in your life right now? πŸ˜‰

Thursday & Friday Snow Day Instructions 1-18 & 19-24

Happy Snowpocalypse! Yay, you get to do chemistry and physics in your pajamas Thursday and Friday!! Sipping a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, watching a chemistry or physics lesson online – it doesn’t get much better than that!!

The lessons/assignments for each class will be posted by date and class like they usually are. For Thursday, you’ll watch a vodcast. Interact with the vodcast! Answer out loud, take notes, make a list of any questions you have. For Friday, you’ll do the “homework” that usually goes with that lesson.

In the meanwhile, don’t forget that you’ll have a test pretty soon after we get back – so continue studying for that!

I love you guys! Stay safe and warm!!
snow day

Physics 1-9-24 Collisions

PHYSICS: Collisions – they’re all around us and they all obey the law of conservation of momentum. Here’s more specific information about the proper way to differentiate and name them.

Great job with the conceptual review and setting up the problems! As you practice tonight, be sure and check for connections between the conservation of momentum and the conservation of energy. πŸ™‚
