PHYSICS: Did you realize that fluids could produce that much force? Make’s you wonder at the awesome way God designed those beautiful under water sea creatures to withstand so much pressure, doesn’t it? This little creature is a lionfish from the waters of Lembeh, Indonesia.
Here’s the lecture on Pascal’s law and hydraulics and the like.
This week I would rate myself a 5/5 stars. I have recently come to the conclusion that this would likely never happen, but I was really happy when I realized this week truly did deserve five stars. This week, I have been on top of all of my homework and have gotten most of it done at school leaving me time to do things that I enjoy when I got home. I also looked at my grades for this semester and realized that I had a’s in all my other classes and even though my grade in this class is not an A, it is higher than last semester and I am really proud of that because of I have worked really hard for it. For all of these reasons, I’m very proud to say that this week has been a five star week. 🙂
I was really productive in finishing up my explorer zone exhibit and was even able to participate with the class in helping Jackson fix his the t-bots for his exhibit. I also looked at my grades for this semester and realized that I had a’s in all my other classes and even though my grade in this class is not an A, it is higher than last semester and I am really proud of that because of I have worked really hard for it. For all of these reasons, I’m very proud to say that this week has been a five star week. 🙂
This week I rate myself 5/5 stars. While I was not in physics class a single day this week, I was serving the people of Jamaica. From building a home to someone who was shortly a stranger, to making relationships with people I may never see again, and growing close to people I’ve grown up beside with only one nine weeks left with them, I believe God has fulfilled our mission. I may not have been in the physical physics classroom, but I used some of those same principles as I hammered away at nails, painted wood, and put together windows. I would not ever take this week for granted as it has shaped me in more ways than I can describe. This was a true 5 star week 🙂
This week I rate my physics experience and my self performance a 5 out of 5 stars because we had one lesson this week and we worked on explore zone. I enjoyed this week immensely because our schedule was more laid back compared to other weeks and I feel it’s important to have a rest period that allows you to detox from the normal classroom stresses. Working on TBots was my favorite thing we did this week because it taught me more about the concept of Pascals Principle which we just started learning. A real world application of this principle broadened my understanding of how pressure is manipulated to preform tasks. Regarding my EZ exhibit… I’m officially doing COG/Stability. Hooray!
This term I would rate myself a 3/5 stars. I prepared for my tests well in advance and studied using many methods to reinforce the lessons, including textbook review games, note reading, and going through homework problems I struggled with. I also got better at not writing too much on lab reports! However, I need to work on not panicking during my labs as this caused me to be unable to complete my mixture separation lab at the beginning of the term.
This term i would rate myself about a 3. I didn’t do too well on my test, however im not very good at math. I did well on the multiple choice and the memorization part, so i just need to spend more time working problems properly. And studying in advance. But i did well on completing all my homework and not getting behind in class when i missed a few days.
This week was swell. I got to work with my favorite objects in the world: magnets. I learned a lot this week from basic circuitry to voltage input and output to how copper wire thickness is measured in gauges. Never knew that. This week was an opportunity to broaden my mind, talk to Mr Scott, and learn that batteries get hot when you draw energy from them. In all this, I managed to successfully attach an electromagnet to a very reliable energy source (the school) and create a baby electromagnet that picks up paper clips. Still working on the train though, and the hammer. Moral of the story: magnets are cool.
This term, I would rate myself a 4/5 stars. I gave myself a reasonably high rating because I have diligently worked this term and have completed all assignments. Specifically, I have worked well on the many labs we’ve had, and I’ve also had fun while doing them. I am also fairly satisfied with my performances on the tests. I deducted a star from my rating because I could have put a bit more of my time into test preparation, as I have done better on previous tests. However, this term has been great overall and I feel as though I have been rewarded for my diligence.
I rate this week a 4/5. We worked on ExploreZone most of the week which was fun and did not require a ton of mental exertion. One reason my rating is higher than normal is that I finally decided on demos to do for my exhibit. I had been struggling to find things that would last for 5 whole minutes, but Ms. Skinner helped me find some. One point was deducted from my rating because of repairing the t-bots. It was frustrating trying to figure out how it worked, but when I figured it out, I easily finished repairing it.
I would rate myself 5/5 stars for this week. Even though I was not in the classroom I found myself applying different physics principles daily. While we were building the house, carrying/balancing supplies, playing in the ocean, and floating while snorkeling I was able to think through topics we have learned this year and explain them to my friends on the trip.
This term I would rate myself a 4/5 stars this is because throughout the term I did really well studying and the other than the occasional mistake I got all of my work in. The one star is missing because of the aforementioned mistakes.
This 3rd nine weeks I would rate myself a 5/5 stars because I got a good grade for this nine weeks and got an A on the last test. To do the same for the next nine weeks I will continue to do all my homework and turn it in on time. As well I will also study hard for the test.
My triumph this week was helping others. Aside from the help we all gave for the hydraulics demo, I helped Alex to improve on his demo. Even if the idea may be scrapped, I was proud I got that roll of tin foil to shoot off at least a few times. Helping others achieve goals can give more satisfaction than reaching your own, so I was happy to help.
This week I would rate my week 6/5 stars. This is because instead of being in class, I have been in Jamaica. I have seen God move through me and my classmates, and this experience is something I would never trade. It was great.
This last quarter of Honors Chemistry I am going to strive to maintain an A average and gain the most knowledge that will prepare me for the future. I plan to achieve this by asking questions to make sure I grasp the subject at hand.
My goal for this last term is to complete my work on time and give myself several days in advance to study for tests or quizzes. I also hope to learn efficiently, so that I can take what I have learned with me in the future. I plan to study hard this semester and figure out ways to not only know but to know why things happen.
I would rate my week a 5/5. While I did not have the privilege of spending my time in the Physics classroom with the rest of my classmates. I did have the joy of being a disciple in Jamaica. We were able to build three houses, and I grew closer in both my relationship with God and my classmates.
I would rate my week a 5/5 because I did not have physics. Just kidding, but, I did have a great week in Jamaica. The opportunity to be able to be the hands and feet of Christ serving his people. The chance to grow closer to my peers and to grow in my faith was also amazing.
My goal for the 4th term is to maintain an A average to finish the school year. Also, I want to successfully complete ExploreZone and the upcoming Chemistry project. To accomplish these goals, I will study for tests starting at least three days in advance, I will practice my ExploreZone lesson outside and inside of school, and I will complete parts of my project in Study Hall in order to finish the project on time.
My goal for the 4th term is to make the most of my time. As the year has gone on and senioritis has gotten worse, I find myself spending less time studying and working hard and more time stressing and complaining about my work. I plan to get ahead on my work and get it done in good time. I want to let myself breathe this nine weeks and enjoy every second of it. In order to do that, I will stay on top of my work instead of pushing it back. I want my last test grades to reflect my hard work, and my project to show my motivation and dedication to this class over this year.
My goal for the last term is to complete all of my homework and all of my assignments on time and correctly. Also to study for tests and quizzes several days prior so I can make better grades. I want to be better on time management due to the chemistry project coming up.
My goal for the last term is to work ahead instead of procrastinating. I want to complete my work the day it is assigned instead of waiting until the night before it is due. I also want to study a couple days before the test instead of just a night or two before. I want to make better grades on the tests this nine weeks, and I can do this by studying more and paying more attention in class by being an active listener.
My goal for the 4th term would be to stay on top of this project. I am a huge procrastinator and will put off anything until the last minute. My goal is to do some every week and to use my class time wisely and not talk in order to get it done stress free.
My goal for this nine weeks is to not procrasinate the chemistry project and finish it since I know I will be very busy. I will do this by working it over the weekends and any free time I have so that I don’t have to cram everything in last minute. I also want to finish the year with an A as a final grade and will do this by getting a really good grade on the project, explore zone, labs, and test.
My goal for the 4th term is to finish the year as strong as possible. I want to do well on my chemistry project and do well on tests and not get any more unnecessary 0’s. To achieve these goals, I will not procrastinate any of my work or studying, I will take each free minute I have to work on the project so that I can complete it earlier than even the deadline. I will also set alarms to keep from getting any 0’s on web posts.
This term my goal is to use my time wisely to finish the chemistry project and still have good grades in my other classes. I will try to meet this goal by studying in advance for any test or quizzes and using all my extra time on my project. The goal for the project is to get it done before the band trip so that I don’t have to work on it on the bus.
My goal for the last nine weeks of high school is to finish how I started. In other words, I do not want to start slacking off right when I am so close to the finish line. During my years as a high schooler, I am confident to say that I have worked extremely hard. My senior physics class is one example. In physics, I have done a good job with being able to apply the concepts I have learned. The way I have done this is by studying hard and paying close attention in class. If I want to finish strong this nine weeks, I need to do the exact same thing. This means if I want to meet my goal, I need to stay dedicated to my hard work. If I do this, I am confident that I will finish physics the way I intend to.
My goal for the last nine weeks is to finish well at Northpoint. This includes in my school work, as I do not need to get lazy and stop giving effort. To combat this sluggishness, I will remind myself that I need to step up to bat and swing. A race is only as good as its ending, and I want this ending to be one to remember. Also, I need to finish well in my relationships and in my character. I will never seen some of these people again, or very often, so I need my last impression on them to be one reflecting Christ. This is included in finishing well. BOO YAH.
My goal for the last nine weeks is to finish with a good attitude! At the end of every school year I tend to be unmotivated and give up, which usually leads me to having a bad or negative attitude towards anything school related. This year, since it is my senior year, I want to end my time at Northpoint on a positive note! I will do this by completing my assignments (and. not procrastinating or complaining) with the end in mind!!
My goal for the 4th term is to give my 100% on every test, lab, homework assignment, and project I have, so I can be satisfied with my chemistry grade knowing that I could not have gotten a better grade. I will meet this goal by studying for the test as soon as I get notes, I will spend enough time to correctly answer my lab report questions (without obsessing), I will do my homework in study hall, and I will ensure I spend an hour a day for me to work on the project.
My goal for this last term of the year is to stay not only stay on schedule and not get behind in my work, but to do it efficiently. to help do this i will set up achievable goals and meet them. When i meet them i will immediately set new goals. achieving my goals will help motivate me
My goal for the last nine weeks is to not get too lazy and to finish strong. Many people usually give up in the last couple weeks and just take the gpa hit, but I plan to keep trying hard. I just need to keep doing what I’ve been doing, and hang in there for the last few weeks of highschool
My goal for the last nine weeks, is to not give up, and finish better than ever. As even though the last nine weeks has just started, I already feel myself wanting to be lazy, and simply not give much effort to any of my assignments. I know that this mindset will not get me far in this last term of life. Rather, I’m giving it my all in everything I do until graduation. Physics especially, I know I need to continue giving all my effort as we have fun events coming up such as Explorer Zone and the Rube Goldberg Project. Overall, I just am going to remain strong in my dedication to my schoolwork for these last few weeks.
My goal for the last nine-weeks is to not lose motivation. Already, I have noticed that I never want to do my work and procrastinate it as long as possible. Although this has been true throughout high school, it has been especially bad the past few weeks. I will work to get more sleep and therefore have more energy to do my work. I will also try my best to get as much work done early so that I do not have as much to do later.
My goal for the last nine weeks is to complete every homework in entirety. I’ve never willingly not done a homework, but I have not been on top of my work and forgotten to do one. Also, sometimes if I’ve struggled on a singular problem, I have skipped it which is bad for my grade and my studying. I will need to stop this.
My goal for the last nine weeks is to not have to take the exam at the end of the semester. I ended with a good a grade this last term so I feel it is possible because Ms. Skinner said these last units are easier than the others, but she also said this nine weeks is going to be the hardest because seniors lose so much motivation. If that’s the only reason she has for it being the hardest term then I got this in the bag. I wouldn’t dare let up if it means not taking the exam at the end of the term. Whoop Whoop, second term here we come!
My goal for this term is to finish strong. I know this is cliche, but it’s quite true that the average senior has the temptation to coast into the finish line, but I’m not done, so it’s not the finish line. I will do my best to get good grades and work my hardest, while also balancing the rest of the life that God has given me. As Coach McClure so often says, “Start fast, and finish faster.”
My goal for this final term is to try and slow down a little. I’m definitely ready to get out of this place and move onto a different part of my life and live on my own, but I know that once I’m done, I’ll miss some parts of Northpoint. On top of enjoying some of the things I genuinely like about Northpoint, I need to not let the closeness of my graduation interfere with my performance in school.
My goal for the 4th term is to finish the semester with a 90 or above. In order to do this I will not miss any assignments and try to make an A on all the remaining tests.
I would rate my explore zone a 3/5 stars. I enjoyed getting to teach to the children about Newton’s Third Law of motion. I was very impressed by what they already knew and the enthusiasm they had. However, I deducted two stars due to my performance. I feel like my exhibit could have been more exciting. My balloon idea was not as good as I wanted it to be. I had trouble giving all the kids instructions. This caused many of the balloons to hardly go up the string, and I feel like the kids would get disappointed. Also, my social skills are not the best, so I often got embarrassed talking to them. Although my exhibit was not the most exciting, I believe I still successfully taught them how every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
I rate explore zone a 4.5/5 stars. I had a great time discussing physics principles with all of the kids! Each group listened and was engaged honestly more than I thought they would be, and they all loved my exhibit! I was absolutely exhausted afterwards, but to me that is just a sign of good hard work! Overall everything went smoothly and as planned which was definitely nice! I had a great time!!
I rate my week a 4/5. This was a really fun week in physics because all we did was work in explore zone. I like weeks where we have breaks from hard lessons and studying. It gives us opportunities to use other parts of our brains, the creative, imaginative, and innovative parts. My explore zone went well, it was a lot more exhausting than I remember but I still had fun. My exhibit had to have a ton of revisions. We had to cut so much of my plans because of the time constraint but it made it so much more fun because my main demo was the human bench and kids reactions made it all worth it when we told them we were going to remove the seats out from under them. hahaha
Explore zone was 5/5. The kids had a blast (most of them) with only minor to moderate burns to their fingers. Just kidding. Sort of. It was great because it went wrong. And though stressful at the time, it made for a much more enjoyable and satisfying day because my team and I thought of solutions to our problems and learned how to improvise in 5 minutes. 28 groups later, I’m exhausted physically, mentally, emotionally, but we’re done. It was truly and great day and a great time for God to show His faithfulness. I’m glad to have it behind me though.
I rate ExploreZone a 4/5. It went well, but one big mishap was that the subwoofer was filled with ooblek and stopped working with about 10 groups left. Although this was annoying, the little kids didn’t notice our missing demo and were still having fun with just waving around sound tubes, blowing harmonicas, and trying the thunder drum. It was exhausting, but it was worth all the work to see the kids giggling and smiling.
This week I would rate explore zone a 2/5. So basically what happened was I was not prepared ahead of time for my original project so I had to combine groups which I was fine with. My exhibit ended up being a bit of a stinker. Our catapult rarely worked and broke down every time. All this happened, but our group remained resilient and worked through the trials. This is why I would give us the 2 points. Overall: could’ve been better
Explorezone this year gets a 4.5 out of 5 for me. I made all of the demos myself, which was much more rewarding and fun than if I had gone with my original ideas. I’m very proud of my ramp design and how well it held up even after the roughness of the older kids. The only bad part was that the rubber sheet ripped, but I was able to come up with an alternative way for the demonstration to continue while staying true to the lesson.
I would rate Explorer Zone a 4/5 for me. Every activity that my group did worked really well, and all the kids seemed to really enjoy it. While yes the day was very tiring, it was still very enjoyable to get to explain aspects of physics to kids with fun experiments. I deducted a point as I felt that sometimes I would allow myself to lose energy and forgot who I was doing this for. But overall, I’m proud of my exhibit and group for what we were able to achieve.
I rate Explore Zone a 5/5!!! Everything fell into place perfectly, and God really had our back with everything that happened. Everyone in the group was willing to work, and we all just made such a good time out of it. The kids loved the activities, and it made all of us even more excited. We had so many people willing to participate that weren’t originally a part of the group. Even when I got tired, God gave me perseverance to keep my energy up and give the kids at the end of the day the same experience as the ones at the beginning. Everyone was also great at improvising when things went haywire. Overall, it was very successful, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.
