HON CHEMISTRY: Do you feel like you have letter and numbers swimming in your eyes? This is one of those times that paying attention to details is super, super important! We had trouble with the recording today, so here’s a lecture from the past on writing formulas and names for binary molecular compounds.
Part of what you’ll be doing is really similar to what you learned to do for ionic compounds, but another part is totally different. Details matter!! So make sure you keep everything straight. Do something that will organize all the information for you, so you won’t get confused. Also, don’t forget the lists you have to memorize – it’s getting larger and larger!! And practice, practice, practice!!!
Need extra practice? Help session?
Latley, I struggled with naming ionic compounds and when to use the stock system. I combated this struggle by practicing this skill multiple times through the practice games, studying for the quiz, reviewing my notes, and rewatching the Vodcast.
At the beginning of this week, I struggled with my lab report. I found it difficult and time consuming to add extra details to my conclusion and recheck everything before turning it in. The lab report ended up taking me longer than it should have and it was difficult for me to concentrate after spending so long on it. Next time, I will try to work on it a little each night of the week so that I don’t spend the last one or two nights doing all the work.
This week I have been struggling with getting all of my assignments completed. I’ve been struggling with procrastinating on things like the lab reports. I’m working on getting better sleep and using my time better so I don’t procrastinate. I’m also setting myself reminders and writing my assignments down so that I don’t miss them. This will help me get my lab reports and stuff done on time.
I would rate my chapter 1 test a 3/5 because I did better on this one than chapter 2. But I did not get the best I could have gotten. I should have taken more detailed notes with more application in them. Next time I will make sure I understand the details and if I don’t understand I will ask for a help session. I did well on memorizing the 8 different chemistrys and the application. Next time when there are details like that I will write those out and make sure I can apply them on the test.
I would rate my chapter 1 test a 3/5. I got an 85, which was better than I could have done, but not as good as I would have liked to make. I think the main reason I didn’t do as well as I have done on this test is because I waited to study until the night before. I should have began studying a few nights ahead instead of procrastinating. To improve my score for next time, I will begin studying in advance. I think my study methods are very effective for me and I think I should continue to use them to produce the most knowledge out of myself.
For this test i would rate myself a 3/5 because i think i could have focused a little bit more on the smaller detail stuff that i didn’t think was important but evidently ended up being what i missed. The next test i’m going to focus more on the smaller stuff and get a better understanding of the information.
I would rate myself a 3/5 stars… I say this because I did not get myself prepared for the test, as well as I should’ve. There is many things I needed to do better, studying wise, such as studying earlier in advance. The next test I will take advantage of all the time I have before the day of the test. I look forward to doing much better next test!
