Physics 4-2-24 Properties of Waves

PHYSICS: Here’s our lesson on the properties of waves. Do you remember anything from your earlier 8th grade physical science days? Problems are pretty simple for you, I think. Do you remember the main formula from chemistry? Speed = wavelength x frequency (v = λf).

Easy peasy – and don’t forget the applications!

BONUS: Here’s a link to a NASA Launchpad video on wave motion – NASA Launchpad: Wave Motion. Since we didn’t get to play with slinkies today in person, this will be a good replacement!

  1. This week has been really busy. We’ve had the Rube Goldberg project, the egg drop lab, and other homework on top of that. I definitely am glad my group started on the Goldberg project earlier and that I started writing up the lab earlier to try to lighten the load. However, the actual lab itself was a big problem. We had to make time outside of class to try to fix our data and error and understand why our displacement value was wrong at first, and then why our spring constant was too high. it was a tough week. I did some good things but struggled with some things too.

  2. This week was busy. Maybe not physics wise but with the rube goldberg project and lots of other things going on it was hectic. Overall though I think it was a good week. I feel like I understood most of what we learned and I appreciate that this is somewhat of an easier concept. And we FINALLY got our egg drop right after 4 days of trying 🙂 Overall good though!
