HW UPDATE: Instead of the book HW that’s on the syllabus for Monday night, do the Chapter 1 Sample Test. You can get a copy from me or it’s also here under the Worksheet tab. Both the sample test and the research on the three elements will be due Wednesday in class.
There are three elements that you will research for the test – Cu, Si, and P. A great resource to research the elements (and the only one you need besides the textbook) are these video clips on copper, phosphorus, and silicon that a group of chemistry researchers have put together at www.periodicvideos.com. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week because I was not prepared for the lab Monday and finished right when the bell rang, but Tuesday I came in prepared and got everything done with spare time. I learned from my mistake and fixed it.
Why does water boil in a paper cup? Energy moves from higher to lower concentration going from a flame to the cup to the water causing it to boil

Is chopping up a carrot a physical or chemical change? The answer is a physical change.
If a mixture is the same throughout what is it? A homogeneous mixture.
Is boiling an egg a physical or chemical change? It is a chemical change because it is a different substance than before.The egg cannot go back to its liquid state now that it is a solid unlike water, for example, in a physical change.
What are some examples chemical changes ?
rotting, burning & corroding .
