Hon Chemistry 9-22-22 Lab Safety Test Overview

HON CHEMISTRY: Great job with evaporating today, and great job in lab this week! Wow – you’ve learned a lot!! God bless you as you finish up studying for tomorrow’s test! Be sure and check out the Lab Safety Stuff to Know sheet on the Test Info tab.

In addition to the lab safety packets and the lab safety video, this is some VERY IMPORTANT information to study

  • All the lab apparatus at your lab station and in the slide show – be able to identify it all and know what all the apparatus is used for.
  • Know the parts of the Bunsen burner and how to light one.
  • Know the parts of the balance and be able to measure mass with a balance AND volume with a graduated cylinder.
  • I’ll ask you about safety control equipment and where it’s found in the lab.
  • I’ll also have the safety symbols and the information they represent on the test
  • Make sure you can both set up or draw and label diagrams for filtering and evaporating

HUGE HINT: Go back and view the earlier posts/slide shows on Lab Apparatus, Lab Tour, Lighting a Bunsen burner, Measuring Mass and Volume, etc. Also, I’ve posted a lab apparatus & uses review on Canvas. All of these are VERY helpful for the test!!

God bless you as you study! It’s a ton of information, but you can do it!! I’ll be praying for you!!

  1. This week I have struggled with procrastinating. I have been studying and doing all of my homework late the night before. I am going to try to plan more in advance to fix this.

  2. This week I really struggled with staying on top of my chemistry work. Because I was out for two days, this made it difficult to understand concepts and make sure I had all my work done. I overcame this by talking to many different people about our assignments and when they were due, emailing Mrs. Skinner, and constantly checking the class website to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

  3. This week I struggled with time management during lab. I kept taking too long on certain parts and barely would finish the lab in time. To combat this, I have started keeping track of the time and not taking as much time during things.

  4. This week I struggled with balancing chemistry homework with other homework. I had a lot of homework in many subjects this week and it was hard to know how to do all of it all at once. To combat this I have been spreading out my homework and planning ahead.

  5. This week I struggled with time management during labs. I have found that I am being to thorough and it’s costing me too much time. I hope to overcome this for my next lab by spending more time and more thoroughly reading the lab handout beforehand.

  6. This week I struggled with sleep. This ended up affecting my performance in chemistry as I was having trouble keeping up with the things I should have been keeping up with. I will try to overcome this by setting alarms to help myself get to bed on time.

  7. This week I’ve struggled with getting enough sleep. Many of the assignments this week have required a lot of time and effort. This caused the amount of sleep I got each night to decrease significantly, but I know that if i manage my time outside of class a little better, I will be able to make up for the sleep I’ve lost.
