Physics 1-26-22 Stability & Torque Problems Review

PHYSICS: Ohhhhhhhhh….so that’s how they can walk across that line! Wait – why do they keep moving their bodies?? Great opportunities for discussion and application!?!

Here’s the discussion from today on how stability relates to center of mass. At the beginning, a quick look at a couple of torque problems from the homework, Torque Worksheet 2.

  1. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I did great on the test last week, and I did okay on the lab. My understanding of the concepts are good for now, but they need a little work.

  2. Struggle-
This week I really struggled with conceptual things. Torque has really confused me, and while I have been getting most of the problems correct, I do not really understand the why of what I am doing. This weekend, I’m going to try to be very thorough with the Torque worksheet and try to understand the concepts behind it better.

  3. I rate myself a 3/5. I am beginning to understand the concepts, although I’m still a little iffy on the conceptual side of torque. Leo and I had a successful lab and finished with plenty of time. We were able to balance the meter stick very well and get very close on our percent error. I struggled with the problems at the beginning of the week but I have made a considerable amount of progress in understanding them and getting better at them. I just need to continue practicing the concepts and problems and I should be good

  4. Triumph-
My triumph for this week is that I felt like I generally understood the concepts we discussed in class and did decently well on the problems both in class and on the homework. In addition to this, my partner and I for the Christmas tree lab were quickly successful in our endeavors to create a balanced tree. In the torque lab, my partner and I only had 2% error, which was a great success as well. Overall, it was a good week. and I hope that these triumphs carry on into next week.

  5. I would rate myself a 2.5. I think I have gotten better in class, but I still need to go back and relearn the things I missed last semester.

  6. R-Rate
This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I understand torque for the most part but also still have a bit of difficulty with understanding how to set up some of the problems. For the most part, I have been completing them correctly though, so that is nice. I am still terrible at physics tests, so that is not nice.

  7. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I can work most of the problems out but I still get to the weird ones like the jacked car and the uneven board. I need to practice these over the weekend to get batter.

  8. This week I read a science article in the article about a new immune therapy treatment that has helped to patients stay cancer free and fight cancer cells for over ten years. Doctors used the patients own genetically modified immune cells to fight the leukemia that the patients had. This could be a large step in the long fought battle against cancer, however, this treatment will not work for everybody.
