Physics 9-29-21 Relative Motion Revisited

PHYSICS – How’d you do with relative motion “revisited”? You know, you’ve done this already. The only new part is the motion of objects in the same direction and opposite directions, relative to each other. Don’t forget, you’ll use what you learned about vector addition to work those “boat goes across a river” and “plane experiences a head wind” types of problems. You’ve got this!

  1. This week I would rate myself a 3/5 stars because I struggled with some things that we did in class this week, but I also understood some other things pretty well. I struggled with graphically adding vectors because I’m bad at measuring but I was able to figure it out for the most part.I also struggled with understanding relative motion, but when I reworked the homework problems I got most of them right. I did a good job understanding how projectile motion worked in class today and was able to understand how to work the projectile motion problems that we did. I also understood the component method of vector addition.

  2. This week, I rate myself a 3/5 stars. This week has been very stressful since I have had to miss a lot of school. However, I feel like I have worked very hard in keeping up with my make-up work and watching the vodcast that I missed. Also, I struggled with the homework towards the beginning of this week, but I understood the trajectory problems a lot more and felt very confident about them last night. Vectors were a little rough towards the beginning of this week as well, but as we worked through them in class I was able to get a better grip on them.

  3. This week I would rate myself a 4/5, not because I necessarily did amazingly on all the problems, but because for the first time so far I am understanding the concepts right off the bat. It’s taken a little time, but I’m finally to the point where I have gotten into a physics brain, and I’m very happy about that.

  4. This week I am going to talk about struggle. Surprise!!! This week has definitely been tough. I am really struggling with the new types of problems we are learning, and I genuinely feel so lost. I hate feeling lost, and I tend to stress myself out more and beat myself up over not understanding things immediately. So, in an effort to fix this struggle, I am really going to try and cut myself some slack. Physics does not come easy for me, and that is okay. I am going to just keep trying my best and practice a ton problems. I am going to keep working the problems until I gain even a crumb of confidence in the process. Hopefully, I will eventually get some right 😀

  5. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I did fairly well for the most part with what we did this week involving vectors, and if I didn’t get something the first try I managed to rework it and get the correct answer while understanding what I did wrong, so that is nice. However, these new problems involving trajectory seem like they might be an issue for me, so I will need to make sure I practice them and prepare for them well.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3.5 of 5. I struggled with the last types of velocity and acceleration problems but I understand these new trajectory and vector problems much better. I find it much easier to reason through these and easier to rearrange formulas to come up with one that I can use. However I am struggling with the composite method to find a vector resultant. I am also struggling in other classes which is affecting my focus in physics but I am working to put other classes behind me and focus 100% of my time into studying and practicing for the upcoming test.
