Physics 8-31-21 The Tortoise & the Hare

PHYSICS: You did a great job with the tortoise and the hare problem today! Have you reached the point where you can do these by yourself without looking? Don’t give up! You’ll get there!!

Updated info on The Physics Classroom. After you register using the class code on the syllabus, look under your Tasks & Courses. The practice for today is under the Kinematics section. When you get to the practice, click on Launch Concept Builder. You’ll need to complete all three levels. The activity saves your progress and automatically sends me your grade.

  1. This week was very eventful. I plan on doing my web posts on Tuesdays to make sure I don’t forget to do them. Well, that plan got thrown out the window when I broke my collarbone. This has been quite the learning curve for me, and it’s slightly disheartening. But, I’ve got to push through the pain and stay on track.

  2. This week I would rate myself a 3.5/5 stars. I did a pretty good job on the difficult physics problems we worked this week, and I was able to understand what I missed when we went over the problems in class this week. I struggled with actually completing the match graph lab but I understood the concept of it.

  3. R-Rate
This week I would rate myself a 4.5 out of 5. I believe that I did very well on the difficult and normal homework problems this week. I also think I did well on the TPC activities and MatchGraph activity. However, there was a day or two in class where I could have focused better and paid more attention.

  4. Struggle- This week was pretty difficult for me. I kept putting off starting my homework until around 9:30 every single night. This was poor decision making on my part because that meant every night I was attempting to do my homework while also wanting to fall asleep, so I really don’t remember anything did. Also, because I was tired and my brain was just foggy all week, I really struggled to retain what we talked about in class. Nothing is clicking right now, which is discouraging. But, I am really going to push myself to try and be fully present and get rest next week so that I am able to do the best I can during class. Being tired is NOT good when it comes to learning new physics concepts when you’re already mathematically challenged :/ Also, I need to remember that its okay to not understand things when we first learn them and stop getting so frustrated with myself about that.

  5. This week, I rate myself a 3/5. It took a little bit for me to understand the math, but once I failed a few times I was able to grasp the concept. Acceleration is very cool to learn about and creates some interesting problems, but I am still very bad at rearranging formulas.

  6. Rate/reflection
This week I give my self 4/5 stars. I feel like this week I made myself participate more in class, which led to being able to learn and not just know how to work advanced velocity and acceleration problems. The reason I did not give myself all five stars is because I struggled a little bit on the Matchgraph exercises and homework problems, but I am still giving myself four stars because I was able to learn from my mistakes and correct them.

  7. I rate myself a 2/5 this week in physics. The reason for this rating is because most of the homework problems gave me some issues and I did not always understand how to work a problem or at least how to show my work for a problem. Additionally, I am still not doing well keeping on top of my work. I hope that next week I will fix these issues that I am having and do better with everything.

  8. I rate myself a 2.5/5 this week. I give myself this rating because after missing three days of school I have a lot of makeup work to do for all my classes and I let this impact my physics makeup work too much. I fell behind on missed homework and labs that I still need to make up. However I did well on new homework and applied new concepts from lectures to reason through difficult problems. Next week I will make up the labs I missed and focus on staying on top of my assignments.

  9. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I give myself this rating because I struggled a little more than usual when it came to the difficult physics problems we were given for homework, however, when I reworked them I did much better on them. I also did well on the MatchGraph and the TPC activities. Through the practice we have done, I am getting better and better at rearranging formulas to find what I am looking for.

  10. This week I would rate myself 3/5 stars. I did not struggle as much with the problems as I did last week; however, I’m still not incredible at working them. Despite this struggle, combined with my struggles to stay on top of my work and pay attention, I did well on the TPC and MatchGraph activities. Therefore, I rate myself a 3.
