Hon Chemistry 5-6-21 Multiple Covalent Bonds, Resonance & Polyatomic Ions

HON CHEMISTRY: Are your eyes playing tricks on you yet? 🙂 Great job working with multiple bonds with Lewis structures today! Here’s our discussion from on double and triple covalent bonds.

Be careful about getting too happy with double bonding – count electrons and don’t forget CONS. And what else? Oh yes, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

  1. This week I struggled with understanding how to draw Lewis Structure for molecules. However, to counteract this, I plan to rewatch the vodcasts, do practice problems, and watch any additional videos so that I can master drawing them.

  2. My struggle this week was knowing the reasons and explanations behind the periodic trends on the periodic table. To overcome this, I have tried and will try to research more about these trends to understand them more.

  3. This week I struggled with keeping the trends of the periodic table straight. The details for each are pretty similar so I hope I can continue to review notes and apply them in my homework.

  4. This week I struggled with Lewis Structures and more specifically determining double and triple bonds. To fix this, I will rewatch the vodcasts and find sample problems online to practice.

  5. This week I struggled with keeping up in class especially taking notes. Since being out for a few days because of my tennis tournament I have been really struggling to completely grasp what is going on in class. However to combat this I plan on rewatching the vid says several times and even filling in any notes I may have missed.
