Physics 4-6-21 Properties of Waves

PHYSICS: Here’s the vodcast on the properties of waves and the a link to the NASA video on wave motion for Tuesday. Do you remember anything from your earlier 8th grade physical science days? Problems are pretty simple for you, I think. Do you remember the main formula from chemistry? Speed = wavelength x frequency (c = λf).

Easy peasy – and don’t forget the applications!

Here’s the link to the NASA Launchpad video on wave motion – NASA Launchpad: Wave Motion. Since we’re not going to be able to play with slinkies today in person, this will be a good replacement!

  1. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I enjoyed learning about waves this week, and I think it is fascinating to know how they work. The homework helped me further understand and apply the concepts learned in class. This has been a very stressful week, and I feel as though I am getting behind on the homework. I plan to work hard and finish the homework tonight so I don’t have to worry about it over the weekend. I am excited about Prom this weekend. Overall, this week has been good, but it has had a lot going on

  2. I rate myself a 2/5 this week. We’ve had a lot going on in all of my classes, so I have been really exhausted and stressed, which has definitely affected the quality of my work. Also, I feel like I have gotten really behind on the material in this chapter. I have understood it while we have done it in class, but it’s so much information that I am not able to remember it all when we start to build on the material or when we apply it. I hope that I am able to straighten everything out before the test, but for now I am going to give myself a break and focus on prom!

  3. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. This week has been very long and this weekend won’t be any better. The concepts in this chapter have been pretty okay but my scrambled brain has made them hard to recall. I’m really hoping for a calmer week next week.

  4. I’m gonna give myself a 2/5 this week. The week itself has been a nightmare of schoolwork and it was beginning to get to me on Friday. With the concepts, I could stand to reinforce some of the formulas and parts of waves for the test.

  5. This week, I rate myself a 4/5. The beginning of the week was slightly more difficult because we had to learn from a video, but overall it was good. The homework was easy as well. I got my labs written up over the weekend so I didn’t have to stress about that. The labs this section were easy to write up. The notes we took yesterday were easy enough to understand. I think I’m going to enjoy waves. I really liked the Rocking the Boat activity we did. The simlab today was more difficult to understand. I had a hard time figuring out what to do, so I’m glad we were allowed to work together but separate. I didn’t finish the lab but am glad I can do it from home.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3/5. While I am proud of the work I have gotten done, I do not feel like I have done it as well as I could have. It has been a weird week with physics and class in general. I feel like I have done everything and nothing all at the same time. Hopefully, next week is better.
