Chemistry 12-1-20 Chemical Formulas Help Session

CHEMISTRY: So how are the chemical formulas and chemical names coming? I wasn’t able to upload the help session from this morning, but here’s a help session on writing and naming formulas from a couple years ago. This help session has practice with oxidation numbers on it, but on the quiz tomorrow, you will only use oxidation numbers when you’re figuring out the Roman numeral for an element that can have more than one charge.

And don’t forget to add one more thing to your “make sure you memorize for the test” list: polyatomic ions, binary acids, oxyacids, and prefixes. God bless you as you study!!

  1. Why is oxygen +2 whenever it is paired with fluorine? Fluorine wants electrons more than oxygen so it forces oxygen to give them up.
