Physics 9-15-20 Chapter 2 Concepts

PHYSICS: Test tomorrow! You can do this!! First here’s the conceptual review we did today, bumblebees, etc.

Below today’s lesson is the vodcast of the help session from this morning – skid marks and falling flowerpots.

Are you becoming more comfortable with working problems? When selecting formulas, it’s always a good idea to ask yourself “Why?”. Why can you use this formula? Why is it legit? Why is it the best one? Is there a better route to the solution? And then, continue to practice them over and over til it starts to become second nature!

God bless you as you prepare for the test! I’m praying for you!!!

  1. This week, I rate myself a 3/5. I should have started studying for the test earlier, because I could not get all the problems worked that I wanted to get worked. I think I did fairly on the test, but even though I started all 6 problems, I only completed four. I think I did alright on the multiple choice–I feltn like I prepared well for that. If I had prepared earlier for the test by working more problems, I would’ve given myself a higher rating.

  2. This week I struggled with the problems on the test. Although I studied conceptual things and worked problems, I forgot how to do some of the problems during the test. I believe that I could have fixed this struggle by studying in advance and working more complicated problems. I feel like I did good on the multiple choice, but some of the problems were hard to me. This is because I did not practice doing the big and long problems. Overall, the test was good, but I think I could have struggled less by practicing problems in advance. For the next test, I plan to study and work harder on the information earlier in the week before the test.

  3. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I really enjoyed the lab we did today, and I didn’t have any trouble with knowing what to do and how to do it, which is a huge improvement for me. However, I really struggled with the test. I think my biggest problem was time. It took me a long time to start to understand the concepts, and I only started to fully understand a few days before the test, so my skills were still really shaky. Because of this, I needed a lot more time than we were allowed, and I wasn’t able to do the problems as well as I could have if I had been able to take it slow and really think through them. I’m going to try to overcome this on the next test by trying harder to get faster and by pacing myself throughout the test instead of rushing through in an attempt to finish everything (rushing myself definitely resulted in some careless mistakes!). I know I most likely didn’t do very well, but I know I did the best I could do, so I’m ok with it!

  4. I would rate myself a 2/5 for this week. The test really wasn’t fun. To be honest, I don’t think I did all too well. My biggest problem was time. I didn’t get to finish the problems, I understand most of them pretty well it just takes me a bit of time to do them well without making mistakes. Since I spent so long on the problems (even though i flipped between multiple choice and the problems), I had to rush through the multiple choice and I know I made careless mistakes in both sections. I do know that I got the first three right, though, so at least I made like an 8. The lab today was fun and pretty easy. Floating between groups and bringing the softballs back up the stairs was a good way to get rid of some of my restlessness.

  5. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I actually feel pretty good about my grade on the test because I was able to complete 5 problems. However, I am sure that I made some careless mistakes because I did not have time to check everything in each problem. I worked really hard to study and work problems for the test, but I am not giving myself 5 stars. I should’ve started studying earlier, but I didn’t. This procrastination led to me staying up very late the night before the test, which likely affected my abilities to think quickly and correctly. However, I am very relieved that we have passed this first test. I feel that I will be more prepared for the next test now that I understand how I need to study.

  6. This week, I would rate myself 5/5. I was super nervous about the test, but it ended up not being as bad as I thought it would be. That either means that I did really well or really bad… Oh well. Lets hope for the best! I really loved the height of the balcony lab. It was super helpful for applying what we’ve learned in class. Overall, I would say it has been a great week.

  7. This week I say I was about a 2/5. My test grade is definitely not going to be what I hoped it would be. I really should have practiced the problems a bit more because I was really slow throughout the process. Most of the issue was efficiency

  8. This week I had a triumph. I did really well this week on drawing vectors and finding the resultant graphically. I believe that I did well on this because I paid more attention in class when we first went over it, and I practiced the problems until I got them correct. I am going to continue to go back over and rework these vector problems in order to have a strong understanding and to be more efficient and confident when I work them. I think that I will do well with finding the resultant trigonometrically on the homework tomorrow if I pay good attention when we go over it. Overall, this was a really good week, and I plan to continue to practice the vector problems until the test so that way I can do better on the problems (be more efficient).

  9. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I got my lab from last week written up last weekend. I did better on my test than I thought I would, so I was proud of myself. I could fix all my mistakes and I recognized what I got wrong. On our lab this week, my group got our process down to a science and completed our lab a couple minutes early. I could do vectors in class but struggled a little bit on my homework. I plan to rework the problems until I can fix my mistakes.

  10. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I did better on the test than I thought I did, and I was able to fix my mistakes relatively easily (a lot of them were careless!). I had a lot of fun with both labs we did this week, and I wasn’t confused about what I was supposed to be doing, which is a really big improvement from the first lab we did this year! I also felt really good about vectors (after my initial confusion), and I think having a practice day in class really helped me better understand everything since I could look around to see if I was doing it right and talk it out if I was doing it wrong! I have been slacking a little bit with writing up the labs, but I am going to try to do them this weekend so I can dedicate next week to practicing and studying in advance for the test!

  11. I’d rate myself a 5/5 this week. Not only did I do better on the test than I thought I would, the chapter 2 concepts are coming to me relatively easily. If anything, I need to get quicker at drawing and measuring vectors but that’s about it. Also the labs were fun.

  12. I’d rate myself a 3/5 this week. My test score could’ve been better. I need to work on going through the test, especially problems, faster. Vectors were really difficult for me to draw at first but it was a lot better when I did the worksheet. I think I just needed to remember how to use a protractor lol. The lab earlier in the week took a little longer than I liked but i did actually make it to lunch so that was good. The lab today was really fun. I really enjoy when we do class labs.
