Beginnings

What a great first day! You’re off to a great start on a truly tremendous adventure. I’m so glad you’re in my class and that I’ll be able to share this adventure with you! Here is your assignment for tomorrow and for the next few days.

  • TODAY – Sign up for Remind. Follow the instructions on the Technology Overview sheet you got in class today. This sheet is also here on the website under the “Worksheets/Handouts” tab. (Your parents can sign up for this also.)
  • Read the class info sheet front & back – sign it and ask your parents to sign it (front & back!!!). The Class info sheet is due by FRIDAY in class. The Class Info sheet is here on the website under the “Class Info” tab on the top left of this page and is also on PowerSchool Learning under Class Syllabus, if you didn’t get one in class.
  • Enter your information in the form below. You may need to use the scroll bar on the right side of the form to get to the bottom of it. The form must be completed by 8:00 A.M., THIS Monday morning, but I encourage you to do it before then!
  • Check your syllabus daily to see what we are going to be doing in class this week, for homework, and for the due dates for class supplies!!

  1. In Honors Physics, I expect to learn how matter moves around Earth and how the force of gravity effects different types of matter. I expect to learn how quantum mechanics works and how to calculate it. I hope to learn the importance of physics in everyday life. I am fascinated to find out how gravity plays a role in everyday life as the Earth rotates. Also, I expect to learn the different energies and forces that are present in the world. I hope to understand the different branches of physics. Throughout the year, I hope to learn a lot of different characteristics about physics involved in the world and in research.

  2. I want to be able to use the concepts that I learn in Honors Physics in every day life. I want to be able to see things in every day life and be able to say, “Oh, this is why that happens.” I am excited to learn about the effects of gravity on different types of matter and why inertia can be cancelled out. I am also looking forward to the experiments and labs we will get to do! And, last but not least, I am excited about checking the safety shower 🙂

  3. In Honors Physics this year I expect to learn how and why things move the way they do. I am not yet well-versed in physics talk, so I’m not able to give specific things I’m excited to learn about, but I know I am excited to be able to apply the concepts I learn to real life. I am also excited to learn to think in a way that my brain is not accustomed to (I am definitely not a physics-minded person). I am most looking forward to getting to do all of the fun labs (but not the lab reports)!

  4. In honors physics this year I expect to learn more about how and why things happen in every day life. Im excited to be able to question why something is happening in real life and be able to know the answer or come up with a hypothesis based on what we’ve learned. I think this class will help me learn to think outside of the box and that it is okay to fail. I expect to come out of this class a better student and problem solver. I’m excited for all of the labs this year. I also think this class will provide a good foundation for my college classes next year not just in subject matter but in work ethic and responsibility.

  5. Firstly, I am excited to finally be able to understand physics as a whole. It has always been one of those things that, when I was a wee lad, was so incomprehensible, similar to Calculus (which I am also excited about). I expect to learn the details about motion and matter, as well as the necessary tools to solve any problems involving them. I also can’t wait to learn about waves and sound. If we do have Explorezone, I want to do my exhibit on brass instruments. Overall, I’m glad to be back and I can’t wait to get into it.
