Chemistry 1-29-20 Chapters 3A & 21 Test Overview

CHEMISTRY: God bless you as you practice for the test tomorrow! Be careful and don’t take the test for granted! Use the Chapter 3A and the 21 Stuff to Know sheet as a guide for what you are memorizing and practicing.

Here is the test overview from today. Below that is the vodcast from a help session on the chapter. Speaking of help sessions, someone asked for another, so we’ll have another help session tomorrow morning, Thursday, at 7:20ish A.M.

Memorize everything and practice everything! And did I mention, PRACTICE!! God bless you! I’ll be praying!!

  1. This week I would rate myself a 3/5, because I am doing well at the stuff we are learning in class but I haven’t don much of my lab report or studied much.

  2. This week i would rate myself a 4/5. I did well studying for the test but I’m still having a little trouble with half life problems.

  3. My triumph this week was working well together with my lab partner. On the Triboluminescence lab, we learned to really trust and listen to each other. We also had great teamwork and got everything done when we needed to.

  4. My triumph this week was doing better than I expected on my test especially since I forgot my calculator. I studied hard for the test, and I think my hard work paid off. I am definitely glad the test is over with.

  5. My triumph this week was my test!! I did really good on the problem and discussion questions because I felt like I not only knew the information on the chapter, but also the why behind it.

  6. I believe my triumph this week was completing all of my homework on time even though I had more than usual. I did get stressed out throughout the week but still managed to complete all of my assignments and study for my tests and quizzes.

  7. My triumph this week was doing well on the labs and activities we did in class. For the triboluminescence lab, my partner and I worked really well together and just overall had a really fun time learning about triboluminescence. Then, for the create a table activity we also worked VERY well together and were able to complete the table quickly because we spotted so many patterns!!

  8. My triumph this week was doing as well as I could have hoped for on Monday’s test, as well as doing quite well on the labs we did during class. For the test, I studied vigorously over the weekend, and it payed off. And my partner and I worked hard on the labs and we did a great job figuring out what methods we were supposed to use and what patters we were supposed to follow.

  9. My triumph? The fact that am just high enough with my grade in chemistry that I don’t have to run extra. Thats about it.

  10. My triumph this week was doing well on the test. I prepared well in advance for this test and I made sure to study hard and efficiently. Because I prepared well for this test I did well. Not only did I just memorize the information that would be on the test, I knew how to apply it also.

  11. My triumph this month is the test, I made a good grade on it compared to the other tests we have taken. I felt more prepared for this test compared to any other.

  12. My triumph this week was the test. My overall grade could have been better but I did well on the multiple choice. My mistakes were mostly on the problems. I also have been doing well in homework and labs so far and I have no zeroes.

  13. My triumph this week was doing well on the chemistry test and doing well during my labs. I also had a lot of fun this week, rather than just working 24/7. I also managed my time very well

  14. My triumph this week was not doing bad on the test. While the grade could have been better, it still was higher that usual. Also, my partner and I worked well together on the labs and finished them within the class periods.

  15. My triumph this week was being prepared for the test but I got sick. (Big time bummer) Also doing the lab on time but mrs skinner extended the due date. But my partner and I communicated well on the lab report and I followed directions closely on the lab report and I hope to increase my grade .

  16. The article “Viewing virtual reality of icy landscapes may relieve pain” provides a comprehensive review of the literature, exploring clinical and experimental applications of virtual reality for acute and chronic pain management. Virtual reality is a state of the art technologically advanced systems that allows users to be transported into a “virtual world” that feels real. Virtual reality (VR) has been used to manage pain and distress associated with a wide variety of known painful medical procedures. In clinical settings and experimental studies, participants immersed in VR experience reduced levels of pain, general distress/ unpleasantness and report a desire to use VR again during painful medical procedures. Virtual reality is a non pharmacological “drug” that is safer and a cheaper alternative.

  17. My summary for SItN:
Scientists have been studying muscle and joint pain and how they can help it. They recently discovered, by conducting several experiments that tested pain levels, that a VR system can help the pain. They tested people with muscle pain by watching a movie of Antarctica in 2D and then with the VR. They found that watching the movie in VR reduced the pain better than the 2D did. The final conclusion is that VR systems are not only good for video game fun, but for relieving muscle and joint pain.

  18. SITN summary
“A New Way to Weigh Whales at Sea”
Some scientists want a solution to weigh whales without having to kill them. They came up with a way to do it with a drone. They find the length, width, and height to calculate the mass.

  19. My summary for SITN:
Although different species of whales have similar characteristics and behaviors, one thing is different between them: size. They calculate size by seeing their food intake and comparing it to how much energy they give off trying to get their food. There are still factors such as how large bones cangrow or blood flow that affect their size. The suction sensors attach to the back of a whale and follow their activities. They did these studies with 13 species of whales o that they can see the differences between the species,

  20. Summary of SITN:
Scientists gave a mummy an MRI to see what their vocal chords looked like. From the scan of their vocal chords, they then made copy with their 3d printer. From the 3d copy they accurately determined what the mummy would have sounded like. On the online copy of the article, there was a link to the voice found “in the mummy”. Scientists are now finding new clues to the past, giving us an accurate representation into their lives.
