Chemistry 1-20-20 Properties of Radioactive Isotopes & Radioactive Decay

CHEMISTRY: Great job today with nuclear equations! Today we finished talking about the properties of radioactive nuclides, and then it was all about types of nuclear decay and nuclear equations and arrows and where to put them! 🙂

HOMEWORK UPDATE FOR THURSDAY (Due Friday): Pg. 672 – 674; 21, 26 – 33, 40, 42

So how did you do with the nuclear equations today? Make sure you know what side of the arrow to put the particle on! Also, make sure you memorize the nuclear symbols for alpha particles, beta particles (electrons), positrons, neutrons, and protons – those are just as important as the arrow!

  1. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I have taken good notes in class and am understanding the concepts well. I have also been staying on top of my homework.

  2. I would rate myself a 2/5 because I have really been slacking with my homework and my assignments for class. I did really well on what we learned yesterday though!!

  3. This week I would rate myself a 3/5 stars because I’m struggling a little bit with the concept we’re learning right now but I also did very well on the flame lab we had today. I plan to watch over the vodcasts of the lesson so that I can be fully prepared for the test on Monday.

  4. This week I would rate myself a a 3/5 because I did not pay attention to which post to comment under. It was a 4/5 but I failed following directions. I did a better job of finishing my assignments to the best of my ability and not talking to Troy.

  5. This week I would rate myself a 4/5 because I feel like I know and understand the materials from this chapter better now. The labs have helped me to better understand certain concepts, and what we are learning.

  6. I would give myself a 3/5 because I am having trouble with the half-life problems and a bit of the nuclear equations. I’ll practice some problems to get better at them though.

  7. This week I rate myself a 5/10, because I didnt pay attention as well as I needed to, but I did manage to do most of my homework so thats a plus.

  8. I rate myself a 4/5 this week because I really am confident in applying what we have talked about in class into our homework. And I also have been studying for the test next week too!
