  11. There may not be many things to the untrained eye that one may think me to be thankful for, especially in the context of this specific week of my academic endeavors, and that untrained eye would be correct. However, upon the closer inspection of the things that have occurred in my life over the past few hours, also taking into account the events of the past few months, I would say that through all adversity and heavily weighted mistakes I have undoubtedly made and undoubtedly received the adequate punishment for, I have still yet made a lackluster attempt at standing upright and persevering through these hardships without the help of any inferior and temporary fix to a problem that I may face. One could ask of me, “if you have not persevered, and you have not stood upright, and you have refused and refuted the many lessons that have crossed your path, and you have made a mockery of every attempt of intervention in your life, and you have kept secrets, and lied, and done everything else under the sun to avoid standing up with all your height and facing these hardships, what is there to be thankful for?” To this, only one answer I can think of; That being that I am thankful for the utmost hindsight and the wisdom it has brought and is especially now bringing into my life. Wisdom, as illustrated time and time again in history, is not only the most valuable thing to ever be bestowed upon a man, and it is not only one of the few things that cannot be ripped away from a desperate soul, but it is above all else intended to be respected and valued. And that is what I am thankful for; not only the opportunity that an increase in wisdom provides, but in addition to this, the long awaited arrival of an inkling of wisdom to finally be granted to my desperate and undeniably unworthy self.

Thank you for everything Mrs. Skinner, and goodbye. <3

  23. This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for freedom, but “Freedom has never been free” -Medgar Evers. What is freedom? This transparent question has an abstruse meaning. So let me embellish on why I’m thankful for freedom. The very word freedom has many meanings to people, but to me freedom is hope. Men may take everything away with shackles and chains but hope will always remain. This Hope that perpetually prevails, in the most perilous of times. This Hope that blindsides with eyes open wide. This Hope that frees anyone who seeks, to show them the truth. The truth that will lead to the unheard fountain of youth. Many seek far and wide for the fountain, that springs up when it hears their name. But they stumble, stumbling because they do not know where true freedom remains. Sometimes true freedom is an offense to this model of society that cripples in vein. As the Nobel Prize winner Albert Camus says, “The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”
This true freedom, this true hope can be unlocked within your brain, on the mindtrack of life’s train. That zooms by to say hello but always ends in bloodstains. Bloodstains on the battlefield, bloodstains on the streets that will never heal. These stains are imprinted on America’s freedom. The freedom of the mind, freedom of speech, and above all freedom of religion. With God anyone can be free, just as Isaiah said in chapter 42: 6-7 “I am the LORD, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.” For the Lord our God can always bring freedom, hope and truth. His light can and will shine into the darkest parts of truth, and with truth there is freedom.

    Happy Thanksgiving,
    Hope you enjoyed. =)

  24. I am thankful for how much blessings god has given me. Everyday I am reminded of the blessings god has given us such as living in a free country, having the right to worship god freely, and being able to go to NCS. I’m thankful for the breath in my lungs so that I can share gods word. I’m thankful for my wonderful family. Overall I’m thankful for the life God has given me and the opportunity to share his word with the world.

  25. I am thankful for the opportunity to go to a school like Northpoint that so many don’t get the chance too. I am thankful for my friends and the teachers I have known at Northpoint.

  26. I am thankful for the ability to learn and understand. I am also thankful for my friends and family that I have now and the friends I have had in the past.

  27. I often thank God for things He does throughout the day, and this is usually quick and not very contemplated or thought over. I think it is good to consistently acknowledge gifts from God like this, but somehow I forget to thank him for some of the big and really impactful blessings in my life. For example, I am thankful for (yet rarely actually thank God for) His patience in sanctifying me. I was reminded recently that God is worthy of all of my life – my work and efforts, my failing where I come to Him and acknowledge that I need His help, my reliance on Him for peace, and everything else. Although I know this in my mind, I forget to teach this to my heart, but I am thankful that He is patiently waiting for me to come back to Him.
Also, I am thankful for situations that play out differently than expected. (Even like when I moved here last year) Sometimes this is quite frustrating to me, but I can still learn to give up control through it, and the Lord often blesses me in numerous ways I never could have imagined just showing His sovereignty through all things.
And finally, I am thankful for relationships among my family and friends. They are encouraging and bring joy, but they also walk with me through hard times as well.
I am thankful for the many blessings and opportunities God has given me and for His soverignty over all.

  28. I am thankful for my loving family who has sent me to such a great school. I’m also thankful for all my teachers that put so much time into my life to help me understand the subject completely.
