What a great first day! You’re off to a great start on a truly tremendous adventure. I’m so glad you’re in my class and that I’ll be able to share this adventure with you! Here is your assignment for tomorrow and for the next few days.

  • TODAY – Sign up for Remind. Follow the instructions on the Technology Overview sheet you got in class today. This sheet is also here on the website under the “Worksheets/Handouts” tab. (Your parents can sign up for this also.)
  • Read the class info sheet front & back – sign it and ask your parents to sign it (front & back!!!). The Class info sheet is due by MONDAY in class. The Class Info sheet is also here on the website under the “Class Procedures” tab on the top left of this page, if you didn’t get one in class.
  • Enter your information in the form below. You may need to use the scroll bar on the right side of the form to get to the bottom of it. The form must be completed by 8:00 A.M., THIS Monday morning, but I encourage you to do it before then!
  • Check your syllabus daily to see what we are going to be doing in class this week, for homework, and for the due dates for class supplies!!

  1. What do I expect to learn in/from Physics?
I imagine this class to be a similar set up as Honors Chemistry, but in a much more challenging way. Besides the actual subject matter of physics, I expect to use this class as a resource in learning how to not be so stressed senior year! I intend to push myself and learn how to deal with the anxiety that seems to come with school. Also, I keep hearing how this class will “make me think in a different way,” so I’m anticipating that as well!

  2. This year is expected to be a challenging one. I do not think I will perform as well in this class as I did chemistry, but my only goal is to try my best. Everyone has a different level of intelligence and all that can be asked of them is for their best. Physics greatly interests me and I am expecting to learn about Newton’s laws of motion, the different forms of energy and how they relate to each other, and the ways energy transfers between objects or states. I am going to use this class to add to my knowledge of God’s profound universe. In addition to this, I am going to try and keep my stress level low this year as opposed to the high level of stress I maintained last year. The first day invigorated me by stimulating my interest in physics with the strings in the pipe. I hope this continues for the duration of the class and I look forward to this year. Also, I am excited to learn about collisions and the logistics of their energy transfers.

  3. This year I hope I will learn the skills and habits in order to succeed in one of the most rigorous classes at Northpoint. These skills will serve me the rest of my life and especially while I am at college. And of course, I expect to learn a lot about physics and be able to decide if I want to pursue a career in the field. I am very excited about what this class and this year holds for me!

  4. This year, taking Honors Physics was a choice I made based on many factors. First of all, I am considering going to college to become a civil engineer. I believe that my interest level in the subject matter of this class will directly influence my career choice if I enjoy it. However, God may use this class to show me that this is not what I’m meant to do with my life. But I mainly took it because I wanted the challenge and to grow in a new way my senior year instead of slacking off. That’s what I want to learn. How to push myself when I don’t feel like doing so. I am also a very inquisitive person, so finding answers to so many of life’s random questions deeply intrigues me! I pray that it will not stress me out, but that I will be grateful that I get to learn. I can’t wait!!

  5. This year in physics I’d like to expand my way of thinking. I’d like to learn how to think outside of the box. Also, I’d like to learn how to rethink a situation if my original notion fails me. I’m planning on pursuing a career in biomedical engineering and would like to use these class as a basis for new knowledge while I pursue this field. I’m also praying that God will use this class to show me His will if this career path is not His plan for my life.

  6. This year I’m looking to expand my knowledge on some of the widespread events that occur in the world that I take for granted. Knowing that this class is one of the hardest classes at Northpoint, I am fully prepared for some growing. Also, with this being senior year, I am hoping to build good study habits that will help me through college.
