Chemistry 5-2-19 Ionic Vs. Covalent Bonds & Metallic Bonds

CHEMISTRY: Happy Monday! Here’s the lecture on ionic vs. covalent bonding, followed by metallic bonding.

Aren’t you glad there are no structures to draw for metallic bonds?! Make sure you can use the electron sea model to explain the properties of metals. Also be able to compare and contrast all three types of bonds.

  1. This week i rate myself a 4/5. I’m really glad that i finished the project and think i did good on it . I understand this chapter that we’re learning now too.

  2. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I feel good about the project and I am glad it is over! I feel like I am understanding part 2 of chapter 6 and I feel prepared for the test on Monday.

  3. i rate myself a 4/5 this week. i was finished my lab when i was supposed to and i am confident that my chemistry project is the better than the grade i’m expecting.

  4. This week I think I’d rate myself a 4.65/5. I did the project this week, and I’m proud of it. I could have done better, sure, but I think I did the best project I could have done with the time restraints given as well as external factors further limiting time. I didn’t get the correct 10 items, I’m fairly certain of that, but I did give a convincing strategy for how to survive with the items I chose. This week was a tough week for me emotionally. The seniors are all done with classes, so it feels like an abrupt end to a lot of the relationships I’ve developed this year, with no promise of ever redeveloping them. You don’t realize how big of an impact people have made on you until they’re gone, and that’s a little sad because that’s what I’m doing next year by leaving. Life goes on, though, so I’ll just push through it. I’ve gotten a lot better at Spanish over the past few months I’ve realized, which feels kinda weird. I don’t remember the name of it, but there’s some psychological effect I read about awhile back where you notice something a lot more after you notice it the first time, like when you get a new car and notice that car all the time afterwards. Spanish has sorta become like that, like I notice how often it’s used, and now I’ve gotten pretty good at understanding Spanish sentences, so I can read it all. Back to chemistry though, I have thusfar enjoyed the second part of this chapter, which is weird because there is no math whatsoever in it. I’m not really worried about the test on monday, but I will study if it feels a bit hazy on sunday. Also this week I’ve been grappling with the question of happiness vs. money. Like should I pursue a high paying job in one of the more competitive fields, or should I do whatever subject I like the most even though I won’t realistically make much money. Lately I’ve been leaning towards the latter, but it feels as though I’m expected by everyone to get a high paying job and become a millionaire, even though I’m not sure that’s what I wanna do. Anyways, I apologize for ranting, but I do feel as though I adequately mentioned chemistry for it to be acceptable. All in all, it was a good week, and I did a lot of thinking and got a lot done.

  5. This week i rate Myself a 4/5. The lab was a lot of fun! I also Got to work with Hannah in addition to Madwig and we got work done faster so we had more time to discuss our reasonings for what we thought just happened. I turned In my project. Overall this week was good but I’m excited for the weekend.

  19. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I finished my project right before it was due, and while it was a relief, I wish I would have gotten it done much earlier than I did. I probably could have done a lot better on it if I had done it earlier. I also think I can do good on the test Monday because I understand what it’s going to be over. And even though it’s not going to be on the test, I understood the problems from the worksheet that was due today.

  20. This week i rate myself a 3/5 because i did a good job on finishing my project and learned a lot during the class

  21. This week I give myself a 4/5 I understand the material better on ionic bonding. I am glad the project is over with and learned to over come the challenges of the project and I also enjoyed the lab we had this week.

  30. I rate myself a 2/5 this week because if I tell myself I’m doing doing good I will start to fail again. Next week I plan to improve everything starting with the test Monday.

  31. This week I am going to give myself an honest rating of a whopping 4/5 just because I tried my very best and I feel like my results in the classroom setting were a reflection of that. I think that I am beginning to grasp the concepts of ionic and metallic bonding and feel that I am sufficiently prepared for the upcoming examination that is scheduled for Monday at 11:10. Having studied the material as best as I feel relevantly possible, this test should end in an increase in my overall quarter 4 average. This week I have learned a lot about perseverance and determination in the event of recovering from the project while also gaining the maximum quality and quantity of knowledge and understanding in the classroom (hopefully this will help me in my future and in life in general) and I thank God and Mrs. Skinner for this.

  32. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I finished the project this week which i was so relieved i have gotten that done! I am going to study very hard by just doing prtactice problems and going over notes.

  33. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I was overly stressed because of the project and I definitely should’ve tried to manage my time with it better. I also think I could’ve done better keeping up in class.

  34. I’d rate myself like a 3/5 for this week. So far what we’ve learned this week I understand it completely. I’ve never been so excited for a test but also I’m nervous. Nervous or more like anxious. The only thing I can do is study hard and pray about it. Also I got through the chemistry project successfully. I can’t believe it but I’m so very relieved!

  40. This week has been absolutely crazy especially with my my personal family situations. I understood the material pretty well I believe I’m just worried I will get ionic and covalent mixed up still. I’m hoping and praying for better weeks to come!
