Hon Chemistry 4-12-19 Single Replacement Reactions & the Activity Series

HON CHEMISTRY: Moving right along with the 17 types of chemical reactions, here are the single replacement reactions – and you also got a head start on the activity series!

This makes 15 reactions so far, and we’ll do the rest on Monday. Careful though, memorize, but don’t just memorize them. Make sure you can apply them as well. When you start to work any equation, first determine what type of reaction it is, then figure out what rule applies and follow it to determine the products. I believe in you! You can do it!!

  1. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I initially struggled with balancing chemical equations, but as I practiced, it began to make more sense and became easier! I don’t believe I prepared enough for the quiz, but my prior memorization of the material from last semester allowed me to do better than I thought I would. I hope to begin research for the project this weekend while hopefully being able to get some much needed sleep😴 Have a great weekend!

  2. This week, I rate myself a 3/5. I have yet to really start the Project and should have done better on my test, so that’s why I rate myself a 3. Notes this week were a lot to take in, especially since Ms. Skinner wasn’t there. But I felt good about the quiz on Wednesday. I well prepared myself.

  3. I rate myself 5/5 this week. I understand the lesson and I am on top of the homework. I just need to continue with my project research.

  4. I rate myself a 2/5 this week because I feel very behind. I don’t completely get balancing equations and I’m afraid I am going to fall behind next week. However, I will be sure to watch all of the vodcasts once I return from the Home Missions Trip.

  5. I rate this week in chemistry a 3/5. This week I have really struggled with balancing chemical equations. I can’t seem to fully understand it, but my goal this weekend is to practice lots of problems!! Researching for the chemistry project has been very interesting this week and I feel confident in the few items I have decided to “take with me”. I haven’t been printing out my sources though because I’m not sure how to correctly source them, but I’m sure next week that will be made clear!

  6. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I am a little disappointed with my test grade but it wasn’t absolutely terrible and I know that I tried my best. The notes this week made sense at the beginning of the week but with the absence of Mrs. Skinner, the past two days have been pretty difficult. My project research isn’t anywhere close to where I’d like it to be due to my busy schedule but I plan to spend time on it this weekend.

  7. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I am struggling to follow notes when Ms. Skinner isn’t here and I didn’t do as well as I had hoped on my last test, but I feel okay about my quiz we took Wednesday considering the fact that I have never understood that concept.

  8. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I didn’t get the grade I wanted on my test but, I’m ok with it. I really enjoy what we are learning about. At first I had a hard time balancing the equations, but after we did the worksheet for homework I finally understood it. I just hope I’ll be able to balance the workload for the next couple weeks with the project and the test coming up.
