Hon Chemistry 3-25-19 Ionic vs. Covalent Bonds, Pt. 2 & Metallic Bonds

HON CHEMISTRY: Molten iron, wow! Here’s the lecture on the rest of the notes on ionic vs. covalent bonding, followed by metallic bonding.

Aren’t you glad there are no structures to draw for metallic bonds?! Make sure you can use the electron sea model to explain the properties of metals. Also be able to compare and contrast all three types of bonds.

Have you made your own Chapter 6 “Stuff to Know Sheet”? Great way to get organized as you get ready for this test!!

  1. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I started studying for the test three days in advance instead of procrastinating and cramming the night before, and I believe it paid off! I think my extra studying made me more confident going into the test and allowed me to better understand the material which made the test seem easier. I’m very excited for ExploreZone next week but am slightly stressed about getting everything in order because of the New York trip😬

  2. I rate myself a 5/5 this week. Usually I don’t rate myself this high, but this week is an exception since I’ve had a lot going on personally and extra-curricular wise. I have been very busy with dance and other classes, but I started studying for the test on Sunday, and that made me feel very prepared. I felt that I knew all the information and created a very good “Stuff to Know” sheet as well. I am very proud of myself for accomplishing a lot even with some personal problems.

  3. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I understood the information for the test, but I didn’t start studying until the night before. I did practice drawing the Lewis Structures and dipoles. I felt like I knew the information enough even though I didn’t study very long. The test was good, and I feel pretty good about it. I am very excited for explorezone next week. Overall, it was a very good week and was very fun and eventful. Also, I have my first track meet next week after the ACT, and I am very underprepared.

  4. this week I would rate myself a 4/5. I was able to understand everything we did in class pretty well. I am ready for the test Monday, and got good notes to study.

  5. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I did good with the notes and homework. I started to prepare for the test and I’m ready for Monday and the very busy week coming up. I have a plan for this weekend and how to study and the material I need to go over.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3/5. Ya girl is struggling. I am severely lacking motivation when it comes to school work. Please help. On another note, my ExploreZone exhibit is coming together very nicely and I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going to say (but the thing is I need motivation to go ahead and write the script). Also, shout out to Sam for bringing 20 gallons of pond water for my exhibit!! ‘:)’

    • Also I don’t know why my punctuation smiley face didn’t turn into an emoji like Caroline’s or Mer’s. It’s probably an operator error.

  7. This week I had a HUGE triumph! I was finally able to get my Explore Zone exhibit to work out. I’ve been staying late through seventh period every day this week to try to make sure everything worked out, and it finally paid off. When George figures out how to make our sparkers work consistently, it was smooth sailing from there to finish the ping pong poppers. I’m so excited for next Thursday, and I really hope the elementary kids like my exhibit!!

  8. I would rate myself at a 4/5 this week I got all my homework done and got a good grade on scavenger hunt but I’m worried about the test on Monday

  9. This week I would rate myself a 2/5. I’m still struggling with some stuff and need to study alot for the upcoming test.

  10. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I understand this lesson pretty well and I’ve been taking good notes. The help session helped me with what I was struggling with and I hope to do well on the test.

  11. I rate this week a 3.5/5 I struggled with studying ahead for the test this week but, I feel really good about it. I have a lot going on this weekend and I’m nervous about how I’m going to teach my explore zone exhibit, but I’m really excited for it also.

  12. I would rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I think I studied adequately for my test, and I feel pretty good about it. I also got all my supplies for Explorer Zone and my assissatants ready. Now I just have to finalize a script for Thursday and show Mrs. Skinner my lesson. I had a lot of fun this week. I especially enjoyed Carson’s electrical current demonstration. I can’t wait for Explorer Zone next week.
