Hon Chemistry 2-22-19 Ionic Bonding

HON CHEMISTRY: Hey guys, here’s the lecture on a different way that atoms come together – ionic bonding.

Keep in mind that when you write ionic bonding, you’re not trying to arrange a single structure like you do with Lewis structures. Instead, you’re writing an equation that shows electrons being lost by one atom and gained by another atom. And make sure you put the dots in the right order!

Also important, pay close attention to the comparisons of ionic and covalent bonds – and WHY! And whatever you do, stay away from bubble baths if you have mortal enemies!

  1. This week, I rate myself a 4/5. I feel like I understand the chapter and am prepared for the test tomorrow. The help session this morning helped a lot! The lab today was fun (because we vlogged) and very cool. I liked learning about electric circuits. I’m honestly starting to get burned out this last 9 weeks, but I have to remind myself to push through and finish strong! Also, March Madness makes school a lot more fun. I need the games to come back on. 🙂

  2. This week I would rate myself a 2/5 , I missed two homework’s but understood what was going on in class , i just need to get on top of things and get my work done

  3. This week I rate my week in chemistry a 3/5. I feel like I did ok on the test, but I’m anxious because I finished super early and that never happens ahaha yikes! The activity with lighting a light bulb was fun and very interesting! I’m very excited for explore zone next week, knowing both my experiments work! Although it was a good week, I rate the Tennessee basketball team a 0/5 stars because tonight they completely ruined my bracket by losing in overtime and there’s nothing I can do about it 🙂

  4. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. Despite only being in class one day and another for the test, I managed to stay onto of things no matter how much I thought I wouldn’t. The lab Wednesday was super fun and a much needed break from all the late night softball games and early morning help sessions and explorezone testing. Although I hate that I will be missing three class days and still feel like my exhibit isn’t really ready, I am very excited to be going to New York this weekend! : )
