  1. First webpost of the LAST nine weeks!!! I can hardly believe it! And I’m finally caught up on all of my make-up work, including the fluids test that I took today. Once again, I’m thankful for Hewitt, and especially for this chapter I’m thankful for Julius! His video really helped me with some concepts and visualizing what really happens. I probably would not have been able to answer some pressure questions on the test had it not been for Julius. I am very proud of myself for finishing on time despite a pencil malfunction where my pencil actually fell apart- it was under too much pressure I guess 🙂 Looking forward to ExploreZone and Sixflags that’s coming up in the near future!! Have a Happy Friday Ms. Skinner!

  2. The Lord is truly good! This week has been pretty rough with catching up on all the work I missed from Jamaica, but I really felt a peace when I left school today because of the way the Lord so faithfully worked everything out this week and helped me get it all done! Today was my Bernoulli test, and this is the first time I have said this, but I feel like it actually went relatively well today! I think I struck gold when I discovered the Hewitt-Drewit videos for the last test, and watching those to prepare for this test also helped me with getting through quicker (and I actually finished praise the Lord)!! Wish I had found those earlier in the year haha! I’m so excited to begin the Rube Goldberg project with my group (and so glad we aren’t stranded in the wilderness again)! 🙂
With all the senior festivities happening around the school, it’s really starting to sink in that our class is almost DONE with this chapter of our lives!! I’m so ready to see what God has in store for our last nine weeks!

  3. Well, it’s our first week of the last nine weeks! This week has been relatively stressful for me trying to make up all the work I missed from Jamaica, but I got it all done! I will say that I did not study nearly enough for the fluids test. I was missing a lot of formulas on my formula card and I also didn’t understand the conceptual material, but both of those were things I could have prevented if I would have just studied a little more. I am extremely excited for the Rube Goldberg project! I think it’s a great way to combine everything we’ve learned this year and tie in your creativity.

  4. I feel like every week my web post says something along the lines of “I can’t believe we just did X senior rite of passage already!” But, honestly! Its the last 9 weeks already? And we’re staring THE Rube Goldberg project. And Explore Zone. And the Six Flags trip. I am so excited (and scared) to work on the project. Our group already has some great ideas, but it is intimidating. At the moment, I feel like I have a good grip on the workload, but its about to get crazy!! But as you were saying in class, I am not in control, God is. I will do what I can do, and He will do what needs to be done, whether its what I think I need or not!

  5. This week in physics did not go very well for me. I struggled to finish all of my makeup work as well as my extra curriculars and I did not do well on the test. Hopefully this final nine weeks I can stay on top of all of my assignments and can pull out an A for the semester!

  6. This week has been slow but hectic at the same time. In most of my classes I’m not doing things but am working on explorer zone and the rube gold berg machine. I’ve been really excited to do my explorer zone project, but I’m kinda feel down right now. I tried TWO air compressors and it still didn’t work. So I’m going to have to try a lower grit glass bead and hope that works. I really want to build a large scale and this is my last chance so im going to try my best to get it right.

  7. First week of the last nine weeks begins! The week has been good for me so far. I can’t wait for ExplorerZone to begin and even though I don’t have my own exhibit I’m still happy to help someone else. I wish I could help out Sterling more. ExplorerZone isn’t the only thing I’m excited for though, I’m also excited for the Six Flags trip and beginning the Rube Goldberg Project. There are already so many big things happening soon!!

  8. This has been a chaotic but good week for me. I am so excited for six flags! I’m nervous about the Rube Goldberg project, but I know we’ll be fine in the end. We are approaching graduation so quickly; it hasn’t really sunk in how close we are. I’m also excited for Explorer Zone! I really like my exhibit, and I feel fairly prepared. Have a good weekend, Ms. Skinner!

  9. This week has been a great start to our nine weeks. I enjoyed developing both a rough draft with Kaitie and Tina for the Rube Goldberg project and figuring out our Explore Zone topic and tools with Joseph. We got our test back today, and even though I didn’t do as well as I wanted, I understand my mistakes and how to fix them; the best part about getting the tests back may sound corny, but it’s that inhale of relief when you know certain study habits and working of problems payed off.

  10. This week in physics, my group and I for the Rube Goldberg project came up with some good ideas. Also, Explore Zone sounds super exciting and I really hope we can get the phosphorescent vinyl. A triumph for this week was my test. It was the first A I’ve gotten besides the first test I think. All in all, I’m feeling good about this last nine weeks.

  11. I am doing my web post a tad early this week, as I have a bad tendency of forgetting about it until 2 am Saturday. These weeks in Physics have been so relaxing! Planning out the Rube Goldberg Project and Explore Zone is super exciting for me. My group and I have such great ideas! I am really hoping that everything works out with the project as well as with Explore Zone. The airplane lab is really entertaining! My group and I have done great with problem solving so far and are, for the most part, finished with the lab! One thing I will make sure to do is go ahead and start my lab reports early instead of waiting until the weekend before they are due. Anyway, I rate myself a 5/5 for this week.

  12. This week went pretty well!! The AeroLab was super neat despite my group initially having some issues. Even though we had 3 lab days, we really struggled with getting our plane to fly in an even, circular orbit. After much deliberation and MANY trials with two different planes, we were finally able to find a plane that worked, so hopefully the lab will go quickly when we come tomorrow during 7th! Also, I can’t believe that ExploreZone is NEXT week!! It really came up fast! Everything seems to be in order for my exhibit, but I just need to write my script and make sure that I have all the other supplies I need for demos now that the slack line is taken care of!

  13. Explore zone is next week! I am so excited. Everyone’s exhibits are looking awesome, and I wish I had something like this when I was younger. I’ve started reading the chapter for sound, and it seems manageable so far!! But I am nervous about Rube.. We have great ideas but need to put them in action.

  14. This has been a hectic week for sure, but I am excited for Explorer Zone next week. Thank you Mrs. Skinner for giving us one more day to finish the airplane lab, that made it a much more manageable lab to do. The Rube project is going to be fun to do and we have many ideas, but we have to get them to work in order to use them.

  15. This week has been really good! The AeroLab was fun, and I’m very excited that I did not get popped by a rubber band or get my hair tangled in the plane or get smacked in the face… so in other words the lab went great! Our plane flew very well and the variables also cooperated, which I know I can’t always say for a lab. ExploreZone set up has been fun! Katie and I starting filling up the bottles with rice today and all the phonebooks are interlocked. I only spilled a medium sized amount of rice so that’s a plus 🙂 Looking forward to ExploreZone next week! Happy Weekend Ms. Skinner!!!

  16. I have had a really good week! The lab was a lot of fun, even though it took a long time. I’m very excited for explorer zone. I’m a little nervous for the Rube Goldberg project, but I think we’ll do well. Have a good weekend, Ms. Skinner!

  17. This week in physics went alright. I really enjoyed getting to work on my explore zone project, but the rubber band kept ripping on us for the airplane lab. It took a little bit of getting used to, but I’m really happy we were able to figure it out and get the lab done! Hopefully explore zone goes smoothly next week!

  18. This week was wild. I was really discouraged last week because I had been trying EVERYTHING and my explorer zone exhibit would not work. But God is good and it turns out I was using baking soda instead of glass (lol how do you get those mixed up). But now is works really good and I’m PUMPED for explorer zone next week. I can’t wait to see what God has in store.

  19. Well I started of my last nine weeks bad this year since I forgot to do my first webpost. I Am exited for explorer Zone next week. Gigi and I have been working hard to fix all of the T-bots (along with some additional help). It’s going to be fun to teach the kids about hyrdoylics and pressure and letting the play with the t-bots. I’m also super exited for the Rube project. My group is working on it this weekend and hopefully we can get a lot done.

  20. This week in physics was quite eventful! It was a nice break from learning new concepts. I loved getting to play around with the airplane and getting prepared for explore zone. I am also excited to get started on my Goldberg project!

  21. This week has been very exciting. Getting to fix the T-Bots was very fun because it was almost like making a design challenge and solving it all in one go. I think teaching these kids will be very fun, and the competition aspect of our station will invigorate whatever grade level we are reaching. I am both nervous and excited for this Explore Zone because this is one where I do not have as much control like the one in 2016, which is great because now I get to look at how to help a significant amount hike charging ahead in the leadership role. Next week will be even more exciting than this one

  22. It’s 4 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019. I wake up in a cold sweat remembering that I forgot to do my webpost. REPORT: This week was a pretty chill week for me. I’ve been helping people here and there on their ExplorerZone. We started preparing for our Rube Goldberg machine as well. I’m excited for that. END OF REPORT.

I should probably go to sleep now.

  23. I am officially exhausted today!! Explore Zone went very well! At least the rice is easy enough to clean up… the little kids did enjoy spilling it though. They also loved ripping the phone books apart to the point where they were absolutely destroyed. But we survived… barely. Katie and I had a great time though I am relieved now that it’s over. And, of course, my mom actually is making chicken rice for dinner tonight… so I can’t even get away from the rice at home 🙂

  24. This week was great! Even though I realized I can never be a teacher (too much talking!), ExploreZone was one of the best experiences of my senior year. I legitimately cried as I drove home cause of all the stress and joy my exhibit brought me. Being able to bring happiness and a little bit of curiosity to elementary kids even if only for five minutes was very fulfilling, and I hope that the kids enjoyed it as much as I did. I learned that I love physics more than most yesterday when I honestly jumped for joy when the kids worked T-BOTS together and enjoyed moving LEGO pieces as a team. Being able to teach kids to appreciate Physics through my small exhibit gave me hope for the future of our school and their aspirations in the STEM field, especially the kids who knew how to work the T-Bots without my instruction!

  25. God is good! I have said this so many times and I’ll say it again, hard work always pays off. When I picked my exhibit I kind of knew what I was getting into, but honesty it didn’t matter to me. I wanted the hard one and I wanted challenge and I definitely got it. God showed me a lot of lessons through my exhibit. Patients, efficiency, critical thinking I could go on and on. But through all the hill and valleys I trusted that he would see me through till the very end and wow did he! He helped me stay calm and collected when everything went south yesterday. And he made a way when I couldn’t see it. Yesterday was truly a day to remember.

  26. Explorer zone was a huge hassle but in the end it all was worth it. We had a lot of problems rise up during the day. The tbots kept on breaking and we had to undo all of the bubbles. We were able to fix them in the five minute breaks but they kept on coming back. Luckily only one broke beyond repair and that was at the end of the day. The kids were still super fun to teach and help them play with the robots. I am so happy that I was able to do explorer zone and I’m a little sad it’s all over

  27. Explore Zone is finished!! Wow! It was hard work, but I loved how excited the kids got about flying toilet paper. When we took the test, I struggled with Bernouli. But after teaching it so many times, and in such a simple way, I feel like I understand it now! Isn’t that crazy? Well, on to the next thing: Rube!

  28. This week was so much fun! ExploreZone was exhausting, but I had a great time. The only thing I would change if I could go back is I would have had more phone books because those kids tore through the books. I was really surprised by how much some of the kids knew! Now that ExploreZone is through, it should be easier to focus on Rube. Wish us luck, Ms. Skinner!

  29. Whew! ExploreZone is over! Even though it rained, the Lord was so faithful in orchestrating everything to come together! The prep was crazy, but when it came down to the actual day, everything held up—the cars worked beautifully, the slackilen and air mattresses survived the day, and I had the absolute best group of assistants!! I can’t believe that yesterday was my last ever ExploreZone at NCS—I’m definitely going to miss it! So thankful for you especially Ms Skinner for all the work you put in to make an amazing day like this a reality! I love you Ms Skinner! Hope you have a restful weekend! 🙂

  30. What a week this was. Nothing but ExplorerZone preparation and then the main event! So many things went wrong but we managed through the day. We couldn’t fill all the air compressors at once and as a result we’re on a tight routine. I feel bad that we broke all the outlets. We managed with one power cord though! This was a fun week.
