Chemistry 1-21-19 Properties of Radioactive Isotopes, Pt. 1

CHEMISTRY: So ordinarily it looks like just any old hunk of rock, but this is a picture of uranium ore under UV light. Pretty cool, huh?!? Here’s our beginning discussion of the unique properties of radioactive nuclides.

HOMEWORK UPDATE FOR THURSDAY (Due Friday): Pg. 672 – 674; 11 – 21, 30 – 33, 40, 42

Have you looked over the half-life simulation lab? It’s one of easiest labs you’ve done, but it does require that you READ the instructions on the syllabus and the website. If there is something you don’t understand, I’ll be glad to help!

  1. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I haven’t been doing that good on all the homework problems. I need to actually work the problems in class instead of just copying straight from the board and not being able to figure it out. I’m going to pay extra close attention to the problems and class and learn to work them so I can do good on the homework and on the test.

  2. I rate myself a 3/5 this week I am kinda getting the problems but need to memorize the formulas more, also I need to take more detailed notes in class and make sure I know how to work the problems by myself instead of off the board.

  3. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I got today’s lesson about radioactivity and the formulas, but the other days have been more tough for me to get. I hope to watch the podcasts over again and re learn to be fully prepared for the upcoming test

  4. I’d rate myself 4/5 this week. I am continuing to actively listen during class and am getting the new material. I am partially struggling with the previous formulas but am hopeful I’ll figure it out.

  5. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I’ve been taking some good notes and paying attention in class. I am really understanding the material and I believe I will do well on the test.

  6. i would rate myself a 3/5 this week. At the beginning of the week i was a little confused about what we were learning but now i understand all of the decays and everything we learned today. I hope i do well on our test next week

  7. I’ll rate myself a 4/5 this week. I feel like I took better notes this week better than I ever have. I understood almost all to the things that were taught.

  8. I would rate myself a 3/5 for the week. Today’s lesson I got about the fromulas but the other two days I had a tough time remembering which one was the atomic mass and which one was the atomic number. I need to work the problems out from class by myself so I can figure out how to actualy work them.

  9. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I’ve been doing good on all the homework problems & I understand what we’ve been learned the past couple of days pretty well. I plan on doing practice problem and watching the podcast before the test.

  10. I feel like I am a 3/5 this week. I understood the concept of half-life today, but prier to today I have been piecing things together in order to understand them. I have a tendency to understand things just enough in class, but when I get home I don’t know all of the information, and find myself having to reteach myself way too much. I am trying to work on this though, and I hope for a great rest of the week!

  11. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I’ve been doing good on the homework and I understand what we’ve been taking notes on for the most part. I’m going to keep practicing and watching the podcast until I fully get it

  12. I would rate myself a 2/5 this week. I’ve been doing good on turning my homework in but I’m struggling with all the new information. To improve my understanding, I’ll watch the vodcasts.

  13. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I’ve been doing good on all the homework problems & I understand what we’ve been learned the past couple of days. But I’m still struggling with half life problems so I plan to practice more on those
