  1. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I feel like a really understood the material you taught us. And when I took the test I only had little I couldn’t remember.

  2. I can’t believe we take our last test of the semester TOMORROW! Senior year is really flying by, and I hear second semester goes even faster. I’m taking a study break to write this web post, and I feel like I have a solid understanding of the chapter. The beginning of this chapter was REALLY rough, so I’ve had to work even harder than usual to internalize some of these concepts. I noticed I often take the small concepts for granted and spend my time working the math problems- probably because I can quantify my understanding of them and I can see right away how well I know them by checking my answers- and then on test day I miss multiple choice questions that should have been “Duh!” questions. As a result of this realization, my studying for this test looks a little different than my usual method. I always read the chapter as we learn (something I learned to do at the beginning of this semester), but this week I have reread parts of the chapter and gone through a LOT of conceptual review, like the section and chapter reviews. I think it has even made me faster at math problems because I can quickly recall concepts that help me solve the problems. I’m hoping to see an improvement in my MC performance! Finish strong!

  3. This week has been a rush. We just finished the chapter today, and there’s a test tomorrow!! I know that to do well on this test I must study really hard and come in tomorrow and give it my all. I have been studying and it has been going really well so far. If I have one struggle this chapter it would be half life problems but I’m sure I can rectify that by doing lots of practice problems!

  4. This week I rate myself a 4/5. This rating felt appropriate because I feel like I did well understanding the material from these chapters as well as understanding the math associated with them. I am a little nervous about this test because I want to finish the semester as strong as possible in order for all my previous work to not be in vain. To accomplish this, I have reviewed all of our notes from these chapters and have done practice problems to ensure I can perform on the test tomorrow. On the other hand, I really enjoyed learning about more complex concepts that have helped to piece together all of our previous knowledge. I am also looking forward to diving into chapter 4 next semester.

  5. What a jam-packed week! I know that the teachers never intend for it to be this way, but everything always seems to pile up at the last minute! It’s been about enough to drive me absolutely crazy haha! However, I can happily report that I feel like I have a much better understanding of the concepts since I have been practicing and reworking homework problems all week. The 2 help sessions, 2 problems work days in class, the vodcasts, and the newly-discovered treasure of Paul Hewitt’s Conceptual Physics have all been such valuable resources! However, similar to how machines can never reach that ideal 100% efficiency, I don’t think I will ever reach the point of 100% confidence before a test. Despite this, I can say that I have seen significant personal improvement in this nine weeks (especially this chapter–I was completely lost when we started it)! My last test could have been better if I hadn’t overthought several of the multiple choice questions (I had the right answer for THREE of them but erased!!), so I’m praying that this time, the Lord will help me think clearly and logically, because I really do think these concepts are lodged in my mind somewhere haha! It’s crazy to think that the exam is now exactly ONE WEEK AWAY, but I am also praying that the Lord will sustain our class and help us finish strong for His glory!

  6. Wow! Our last test of this semester is behind us! This chapter sure was a tricky one, made worse by how many days I got sick and had to miss. I was extremely confused up until a few days before the test, and then it all clicked. I actually feel decently confident about this test, but don’t want to jinx anything haha. I can’t wait to review past physics concepts and work on my labs this weekend and I’m really going to try to finish this semester strong!!

  7. I rate myself a 4/5 this week, overall, I understood the material covered throughout this chapter really well and I kept up with my studying throughout this week so I was never that overwhelmed. I’m a little nervous about the test because I know that I need to do well on it, however I feel pretty confident about how I did.

  8. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. This chapter was pretty interesting to learn about and a good way to end the semester. The test today went okay but I need to work on staying calm and level headed on tests days. Getting so anxious before tests and while studying doesn’t do me any good and hurts my performance. I plan to start on my study guide this weekend and begin preparing early because this next week is going to be very chaotic and I’ll need to stay on top of everything if I want to finish the semester strongly.

  9. I am glad to have our last test behind me. I actually feel pretty good about this test! I’m really worried about exams, though. I plan to begin reviewing this weekend, but we’ll see how that goes. Have a good weekend, Ms. Skinner!

  10. What a CRAZY week this has been! I feel like I say that every week, but for this week it was certainly true! I can’t believe it’s actually over… I think I stressed more about stressing than anything actually real! Funny how that happens. I know that was especially true for the test- I glanced at the problems, panicked thinking I didn’t know how to do any of them or where to start, and then took a deep breath and just started one at a time working them through. There’s a reason God says to “Be still and know that I am God” and “Do not be anxious about anything…” Worrying really only makes you suffer twice. We have to just take it one step at a time, trusting Him all the way through to the end. I was prepared for this test. Though I feel like the time studying may have been shorter, I feel like it was still quality studying time! And I guess it paid off because though I went longer on the multiple choice than I had planned, I actually finished the whole test! (Though I’m sorry that it means it’ll make you grade more) Despite the grading, I hope you have a happy weekend! If you need a break, Sunday night is Broadway’s Christmas Night of Worship at 7:00 pm!

  11. I can not begin to tell you how happy I am that it is the weekend. I have been loaded down with homework, projects, tests, and quizzes this whole week. I came home and crashed, only to snap up at 4:30 without any alarm to study. I began studying the problems I struggled with, which helped me on the test. I feel really confident about the test, even though I know I did not make a 100. Thank you for always helping us learn to the best of our abilities by challenging us with difficult problems. I can see how it has changed my life, as it has shaped me into a more critical thinker. Have a great weekend!

  12. This week was a interesting one to say the least. It does feel great though that our last test of the semester is over but now we have exams. I did feel good about this test so we shall see how it goes. I do know however that I have to start studying this weekend or it’s going to be a long exam come Thursday. Anyways, have a great weekend!

  13. This week in physics was very stressful. All week long I was stressed about the test, the approaching labs that are due, and other assignments due throughout the week. However, I feel as though I did really well on the test. I managed my time much better , and I truly believe I may have even made an A on it! Now I just need to finish all my lab reports over the weekend so that I can focus all of my time on the exam study guide next week!

  14. It’s almost time for exams! This year seems to almost speed by me. So much need to be done this weekend and I’m taking the ACT tomorrow. I am really feeling stressed. So much to do so little time. Now I have to manage my time to the last minute. I did so much better on time management this test. I think I did well but only time will tell. I really wish I could’ve gone to the help sessions this week but I kept forgetting when they were, so instead I just did my best to study. I can’t believe the semester is about to end.

  15. I have never felt better about a test in your class! I understood everything! I’m so glad I was able to compete almost all 6 problems. I study hard and it really paid off. Now I just have to work hard on my labs and end with a really good 9 weeks grade.

  16. This week was unsettling. I have been feeling hotly for putting off all of my lab reports and extra credit, and it has finally caught up to me. However, Ms. Skinner reminded me that these times are good testers of our heart and work ethic, so I’m keeping my head up. The test was odd today. I have finally felt into a rhythm of how and when and where I need to study properly and am proud to find it. I figured out that studying more than one day the night before actually helps me. I put the info in “long term” I guess, but it stick with me more for this chapter. The most difficult part of this test was my inability to have confidence in my answers, I spend hours pouring over ONLY the SURFACE LEVEL of all my notes, debilitating me from furthering my mental “storage space of info” and filling my head with basic facts instead of the in-depth ones. I plan on studying even harder for the exam though for even better results.
