Hon Chemistry Assignment for Monday, November 12

HON CHEMISTRY: Happy Monday! Here’s your assignment for Monday. Read the instructions below very carefully!! (If you have done this assignment already, do it again – but it’s different! The practice will be very helpful for you!!)

Today you’ll practice again on http://www.sciencegeek.net, but instructions for today are different. Today you will need to write the question, and then beside it, the correct answer, and you must turn in your work on notebook paper – but you only have to do 12 chemical formulas/naming compounds correctly from each of the first three sections below and 2 empirical formulas problems from the last section. When you get the set amount done correctly in each section, you may stop and go on to the next section. Skip a line between each compound. You may write on the back.

Label each new section, and skip a line between each question.

Go to http://www.sciencegeek.net, go to Chemistry, click on NEW Review & do the following. On your notebook paper, write the question, and then beside it, the correct answer. BE SURE AND CHECK YOUR WORK. This assignment will be graded for accuracy.

1) Unit 3: Binary Ionic Compound Formulas (Don’t forget that you DO have to put charges for the ions in the formulas when you show your work!)
2) Unit 3: Ionic Compounds Involving Polyatomic Ions (Don’t forget that you DO have to put charges for the ions in the formulas when you show your work!)
3) Unit 3: Binary Covalent Nomenclature (Don’t forget that you DO NOT put charges for the ions in the formulas when you show your work. Prefixes are the subscripts!)

Next, go to http://www.sciencegeek.net, go to AP Chemistry, click on Review & do 2 problems in the following section. On your notebook paper, write the question, and then underneath it, your work and the correct answer. BE SURE AND CHECK YOUR ANSWER. This assignment will be graded for accuracy.

4) Chapter 3: Stoichiometry – Finding Empirical Formula from Mass Percent (Be sure and include units!!)

The assignment is due at the end of the period. If you finish early, use your time to practice other things for the Chapter 7 Test!

  1. I am thankful for my family and being able to see them on Thanksgiving. I am thankful I get to see them because I only get to see them a couple times a year since they live in Kentucky. For Thanksgiving this year, my mom and I are going up for the entire week, I am so happy to see my cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Although I won’t be able to see my dad on Thanksgiving since he has to stay home and work, I will have a good time catching up and spending time with my family. So, this year I am thankful to be able to go see the rest of my family for a week.

  2. I am very thankful for my amazing family and fabulous friends (Amanda and Meagan in particular (they made me say that)). I am also so thankful for the opportunity to come and learn and worship God every day at this exceptional school. God has truly blessed me, and I am especially thankful for the fact that I live in a country where I can freely worship Him.

  3. I am thankful that I have the privilege to go to a Christian school and recieve an education that is centered on Jesus. I am thankful for my amazing friends, family, and teachers that encourage and lift me up in my times of need. I am thankful for the many blessings and lessons God has given and taught me. Above all I am thankful that I live in a country where I can freely worship the Lord.

  4. This thanksgiving, I’m extremely thankful for my family and my friends. They are always there for me and support me in all I do. I’m also thankful for my education and that i get to a private christian school that not only challenges me mentally, but helps my relationship with Christ grow.

  5. If I could write down everything I am thankful for, this list would probably be as long as a marathon, because God has put so many things in my life to be thankful for! I am very thankful for my family and friends. They are so supportive and loving towards me and I would not be able to survive without that support. I am also thankful that I am able to come to a Christian school. I have been able to come to SBEC/Northpoint my entire life, and sometimes when I get caught up in the routine of everyday life, I forget that I’m blessed here because I can worship my Savior publicly. Also, having great teachers that pray for me and want me to grow as a student and as a follower in Christ is something I am very grateful for. I am also very thankful for growth. Reflecting on the past year, I can tell there are many areas in my life that have changed, and there are still areas that I still need to work on and improve each day.

  6. I am beyond thankful for the amazing friends and family God has placed into my life for the better. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned this year good and bad. I am thankful for the small victories I’ve won and the mistakes I’ve made along the way. Lastly, I am thankful for a chemistry teacher who has not given up on me yet even when I wanted to give up on myself. I know I still have a long way to go, but lucky for me God has put some teachers in my life who want to see me succeed. Have an amazing, love-filled Thanksgiving Mrs. Skinner!!!!

  7. I have been given so many things in my life to be thankful for over the past few years. I’m so thankful for my family and all of my friends. I’m thankful for the opportunity to go to a Christian school and for the freedom to worship God every day. I’m so incredibly blessed to have the talents and skills that I have and to be able to use them to glorify God. I’m so thankful for all the people that love me and care about me even through tough times. God has blessed me with so much and helped me grow so much in the past few years and for that I’m eternally grateful.
