Chemistry 11-6-18 Binary Molecular Formulas

CHEMISTRY: Do you feel like you have letter and numbers swimming in your eyes? This is one of those times that paying attention to details is super, super important! Here’s the lecture from today on writing formulas and names for binary molecular compounds. Part of it’s really similar to what you learned to do last week for ionic compounds, but another part is totally different. Details!!

Make sure you keep everything straight. Do something that will organize all the information for you, so you won’t get confused. Also, don’t forget the lists you have to memorize – it’s getting larger and larger!! And practice, practice, practice!!!

Need extra practice? Another help session??

  1. i have struggled a little bit with the memorization of everything we are learning right now. There is so much to memorize and everything is kind of similar so it gets a little confusing at times, but i am constantly writing and saying all of the formulas and symbols and everything to myself for practice. hopefully i will do well on the pre test and that will help get me ready for the actual test.

  2. A struggle for me would be the binary molecular formulas. I am having trouble with remembering what questions to ask myself when I first see the formula. I am practicing them every night and I hope to be able to get it right away after studying them for a while.
