Chemistry 8-23-18 Derived Units & Intro to Accuracy & Precision

CHEMISTRY – So you think Goodman Road is getting crowded? How’s this for a “high density” city? Great work with derived units today. Now on to accuracy and precision. Can you apply what you’ve learned? Hmmmmm………

  1. Struggle: I struggle with studying hard enough for tests and in the correct way. I am fixing this by taking advice from Ms. Skinner and practicing things for tests.
Triumph: I did well on our first test because I studied how we were told to study.
Application: I learned how to remember certain units and I can apply this when measuring things.
Reflection/Rate: I would rate myself a 4 because I have learned new things and did well on our first test.
Serious Questions: Can we practice more problems from this past week’s lessons before our test?

  2. S- Struggle: This week I struggled with making sure I did the right formats and to fix this I asked questions about it to my peers and my teacher.

T-Triumph: My triumph this week is being able to do extracurricular activities while still keeping up with my homework assignments and making good grades. I was able to this because I had good time management throughout this whole week.

A-Application: This week I will continue to balance both my social and fun activities with the important school work I have to do. I will also continue to work hard at everything I do.

R- Reflection/Rate: I rate myself 3 stars this week because I worked very hard, and I feel that I have started to become more responsible as a result of that.

S-Serious questions/answers: One serious question I have about class content is how do I study correctly for the tests to come?

  3. i struggled with the pre-fixes of the units this week and im going to fix it by studying them this weekend and memorizing the chart and know how to apply them so i will be ready for this next week and for the quiz on wednesday!

  4. This week I struggled with comprehending the SI System. Unfortunately, I never actually learned what it is in it’s entirety, so I’m going to have to have to buckle down to learn that. I did well with getting my work done on time. I’d rate myself a 3/5 due to my lack of comprehension but my work ethic kept me going.

Triumph: I was really worried about some of my tests and quizzes this week but I ended up actually doing pretty well on my chemistry test and on my geometry quiz. I am happy with my grades so far and I want to keep studying harder and do even better! I think I’m actually going to do better than I thought I would this year!

  6. Struggle: I’ve struggled with keeping track of my homework and tests on the syllabus, and studying hard enough for the tests/ quizzes

Triumph: This week i did very well on my test and i believe that’s because i took your advice on your studying method and it paid off!

Application: I’ve learned that the material in chemistry is only going to get more and more challenging so studying and applying what i’v learned needs to be a priority!

Reflection/Rate: I rate myself about a 3 this week because i believe that i am capable of much more with a little more studying.

    • Struggle- for me the struggle has been getting the homework done and keeping up with the syllabus.
Triumph- I made a good grade on my test and I got to put a green star on the wall!
Application- this is very important in passing the class because you can’t just study, you have to learn to apply what you learn is the only way to actually remember stuff.
Rate- I would rate myself a 2 this week because my grade dropped to an 88.

  7. This week was a fun week but a long week. I did get off my homework and study schedule which was stressful but that’s ok because next week will be great! Can’t wait for more adventures in chemistry!!! (Loved the oobleck lab I it’s a timeless favorite! I want to make it at home!!) I rate Myself 2/5.

  8. Triumph: I was really worried about some of my tests and quizzes this week but I ended up actually doing pretty well on my chemistry test and on my geometry quiz. I am happy with my grades so far and I want to keep studying harder and do even better! I think I’m actually going to do better than I thought I would this year!

  9. S- I struggled with reading the blog and trying to keep up with the work and trying to remember the SI system.
T- I was worried about my test but I did very good on it and was proud of myself for studying efficiently and effectively.
A- I need to apply myself more and challenge myself in trying to study the materials and know how and why we do it.
R- I rate myself a 4/5 because I did very good on my test and listened very closely to the notes in class.

  10. Struggle- I struggled with trying to learn all the different units we talked about this week.

Triumph – I made a good grade on the test we got back and I’m happy 🙂

Application- I truly studied for the test and I made sure I memorized it and practiced
    everything.

Rate – I give myself a 3 out of 5 for this week because I did well but I could have taken better notes

Serious question- how long should I study for each test ?

  11. Hey Ms Skinner! This week I thought i was getting into schedule but it turns out I’m still need to work on my routine so this week i rate myself 2/5 because i’m already struggling. woohoo. have a great day.

  12. S- I’m struggling with keeping up in class and knowing exactly what is going on. I’m attempting to stay on track and not be left behind.
T- I did well with getting all of my work done; managing time with volleyball games and practices is difficult.
A- Using the SI System actually applies into geometry and naming differing units. I applied that this week.
R- I’d rate myself a 2/5. I kept up but am still attempting to comprehend the new material. Time management for me and being anxious is very detrimental to my academics.
S- I am borderline clueless on converting factors.

  13. S-Struggle I struggled with those quizzes and I wish I would have done better. Chemistry is already turning into a hard class. I hope I can do better in the future
