Chemistry 8-22-18 SI Measurements

CHEMISTRY – Hey guys, so is all the info on SI measurements starting to come back to you? Here’s the lecture from today. I’m sure it’s mostly review from your physical science days, but it’s a great opportunity to refresh what you’ve learned and to get ready to begin using it!

Did you remember the prefixes and units? Start work on memorizing them NOW – SI quantities, units, and SI prefixes. For the prefixes, also make sure that you can tell me how many of something in the larger one. (That’s what I explained in class.) The quiz on them will be next Wednesday, August 29.

  1. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I did really well with the Oobleck lab and experiments. I understand and remember most of the SI units but I need to refresh my memory on some of them for the quiz next week.

  2. This week has been a great week of review. I would rate myself a 4 out 5 for this week because I know most of the review, but I could use more practice. My favorite part of the week has been the Oobleck lab. I enjoyed learning its different properties. I am looking forward to the weeks to come in chemistry.

  3. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I rate myself this because I understood almost everything we talked about in class except for some of the SI system. I remember most of the SI units, but not all of them. I want to learn all of the SI units and be prepared for the quiz. As well, I want to better understand how to apply the SI system in experiments and the things in the world. I understood the lab, and it was really fun because I have never used oobleck before.

  4. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I had a hard time picking up on the measurements because at Germantown I was not taught this. This week I picked up on a lot of information.I did well on converting the measurements.I want to improve on understanding the SI system.

  5. This week has been great. I would rate myself maybe a 3/5. I did pretty good with the oobleck lab and I remember most of the SI unit information. I will still have to review some for the test next week but overall, it has been a fun week. I can wait for the rest of the school year n chemistry.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I didn’t really remember all of the SI units, and I definitely need to study them before the quiz. The Oobleck lab was super fun! My lab partner and I finished with enough time to clean up. I remembered the scientific method and didn’t have problems completing the lab.

  7. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I took good notes on the review days and understood almost everything.there was a few things a i did not understand but i am going to watch todayd vod cast to make sure I do.

  8. This week I would give myself 3/5 stars because while I remembered a lot of the SI System from Physical Science, I still struggled with remembering the values of the different prefixes. I’ll definitely need to study over the weekend to get ready for the quiz Wednesday to make sure I remember everything. This week I did pretty well taking notes and keeping up during class, but I need to work more on being able to take shorthand notes to help prevent me from getting behind or missing important information.

  9. This week has been very intriguing. I would rate myself a 3/5. I did well in the oobleck lab and understood that. I remember some of the SI System but definitely need to go over it more and prepare for the quiz on that next week. I also did pretty good with taking notes during class and staying caught up!

  10. I would rate myself a 3/5 for the week, but I have found the review to be very helpful for refreshing my memory on the stuff dating all the way back to physical science, the Oobleck lab was a-lot of fun for me because I thought the fact that it was kind of two physical properties was really cool.

  11. This week I struggled with taking notes quickly and efficiently. I am working on a shorthand to use and learning to abbreviate better for faster notes, so on that, I rate myself a 2/5. The Oobleck lab was lots of fun and my partner and I were able to finish the lab and clean up the lab station in time to not be late for our next class.

  12. I would rate myself 2/5 stars this week because I remember very little of the SI system and I have just been sluggish. I hope to be able to regain my energy and enthusiasm which will lead to more successful weeks. I did pretty good on the ooblek lab even though I knew going into the lab that ooblek is a non-Newtonian fluid. My goals going forward are to learn as much as physically possible and to ask questions when needed.

  13. Struggle stood out the most to me. I feel that I may have a tough time remembering parts of the SI System and that kind of worries me, so I will definitely be studying it again. Besides that, I think this week has gone pretty well so far with the Oobleck Lab activity and note taking.

  14. This week I would rate myself a 2/5 because I don’t really remember much of the SI system and I’m generally just feeling overwhelmed. I will definitely make sure to study hard this weekend. But the oobleck lab was super fun! My lab partner and I managed to finish the lab before the class period was over and almost finished all the questions.

  15. This week I rate myself a 3/5, because I am remembering certaining things about the SI Units. I am also struggling with speak up in class, because I may say the wrong answer or say something that doesn’t make sense. But I am working on that but making sure I think about the question through all the way and listen to the other students answers before saying mine.

  16. Working on my the SI Scavenger Hunt has been interesting, I give myself a 4/5 working on it mostly for my sanity, not the difficulty, just how monotonous conversions can be. But I rate myself a 5/5 for the week because of work ethic.

  17. I rate myself a 4/5 for this week. I feel like I understood the material pretty well but am struggling a little with homework. The scavenger hunt also looks a little tough and am not looking forward to starting it. I feel pretty confident about next week and the weeks to come. I feel that the homework amounts are the only thing that will get me this year.

  18. I getting closer to understanding how to do the scavenger hunt. I rate myself a 4/5 for the week. So far I’m doing good in class understanding everything on the board.

  19. I have done pretty well staying on task and withholding information this week. My week has been very hectic so I would give myself a 3/5 for this week. Shooting for a 5/5 next week!

  20. I would rate myself 3/5 for this week. I will need to look over the SI system because I only remember the basics. I also need to work on my shorthand so I can take notes quicker so I don’t get behind. The oobleck lab was really fun and my partner and I finished with time to spare.

  21. i rate myself at about a 3/5 this week i took pretty good notes and understood some of the things and some of the stuff was a good refresher

  22. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I didn’t remember much about the SI System, but I am beginning to pick it up again. I have learned how to take notes more efficiently so that I have the necessary information. I really enjoyed the oobleck lab, and my lab partner and I finished with enough time to clean our lab station and not be late to the next class.

  23. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because i took good notes and I’m beginning to get the hang of chemistry. I have also learned how to do my labs better.

  24. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. It has been a fun week working with oobleck and reviewing si units. This week I think I have improved at least slightly in managing my time in a lab. I think I also did well experimenting with the oobleck and trying to determine its state of matter. This week I also did well remembering the si units. Overall this has been a good week in chemistry

  25. The best thing about this week had to be the Oobleck lab. Going over review has really helped me a lot. I believe my participation was good also. 4/5 this week.

  26. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I understood everything we learned this week, but I need to work on managing my time better and do better on homework. I struggle in managing my time well and reading through the directions all the way, but I am making sure I read EVERYTHING now and planning the things I need to do throughout the week ahead of time. I did well taking good notes this week. I wrote down everything in the slideshow and all the examples you told us in class and watched the lessons again just in case I missed something. I can now apply all the SI units into everyday life and see which unit works best for different objects.

  27. This week I rate my self a 4/5. The ooblek lab was fun and interesting to do. The SI system, I remember some of the terms from IPC class and just have to study some of them for the quiz.

  28. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I took good notes on the review days and understood most things. The oobleck lab was very fun, and I finished with a decent amount of time left in the class. However, I still need to review the SI units but I think with a little looking over I will have them down again.

  29. I would have to give myself a 3/5 rating this week. The SI units did not come back to me as I would have hoped but I’m getting there. I found the Oobleck lab to be very enjoyable. I think by next week I will be able to get everything under control.

  30. This week i rate myself a 4/5. I did not recall the SI Units nearly as good I thought I would, but I will study them and learn them. The Oobleck lab was a very enjoyable and fun lab to do and I hope to do more things like that in the future. I learned that it is okay to give a wrong answer in class but never not give an answer or say you do not know. I also learned how to do percent error of measurements which I think will help me out a lot in the future of your class.

This week I struggled a little with remembering the SI system, but the review helped a lot and I think I took good notes! Even though I struggled remembering it at first I hope to apply my notes to help me study. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because I took good notes, but was disappointed with my test & didn’t get to put a star on the wall.

  32. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I think I did much better than I expected on the oobleck lab. I already understood the discussions we had on measurements for the most part, but I can always improve on note taking and applications.

  33. I would rate myself 2/5 stars this week because of all the test and quizzes we have had. I even was sick one day this week. But, I’m also excited for Victory Ranch.

  34. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I did better than I expected on my test and the reviews in class. I need to work on the information for the upcoming quiz and turning this webpost in on time from now on.
