Chemistry 8-20-18 Using the Scientific Method

CHEMISTRY – Great review today of the scientific method. I know you’ve heard it for umpteen years, but it is super important that you can APPLY what you’ve learned about the scientific method.

Speaking of that, you’ll have a great chance to practice using the scientific method tomorrow with Ooblek! Make sure you print and read the Oobleck lab sheet and bring it to class tomorrow!

And speaking of homework – the work from the textbook can be done with the online textbook. Do it on notebook paper, and you can use the back of the paper. Just make sure you number listing down and not across – especially if there are a, b, etc., parts – list those down on separate lines, not across the same line. Also, skip a line between each question. Be sure and turn it in at the beginning of class tomorrow.

So do animals use the scientific method? Hmmm…..

  1. No, I do not think that animals use the scientific method. Animals lack decision making skills. God only made man with the cognitive skills in order to thoroughly “size up” a situation and/or problem. As I love all animals, mostly my dog Miley, they simply lack train of thought as humans have.

    • Okay so the web post may or may not have been about animals using the scientific method. If it was about using the scientific method throughout this week, I believe I did well. I managed my time properly and did, what I would consider, quality work.

I dont really agree with the theory that animals use the scientific method. I love all animals so much, however that doesn’t change the fact that they just can’t think and learn the way human’s are allowed to.

  2. something that i did this week was i finished the lab in class today with time to spare to make sure i did what the directions told me to do. i was able to get the lab done in class because i read the sheet the night before and was able to really know what i was doing. i also was able to manage my time in each section with the amount of time Mrs. Skinner told us to spend on each section.

  3. I am not going to lie-this week has been a struggle. I have fallen behind in chemistry and all of my other classes. I am working on my time management skills so that I can get my makeup work completed asap. Hopefully by the end of next week I will be done with my makeup work and will be able to stay on top of my current work.
