  1. Wow l cannot believe l am writing my last web post!!!! l can honestly say l have grown so much this year! l was terrified to take Chemistry as a junior. l heard so many horror stories…yes there were some times when the work load crushed me, but l perservered. l learned how to think critically and apply what l learned. l see a huge difference in myself.

Some advice for upcoming chem students:
    1) Don’t be hard on yourself
    2) appreciate your time in chemistry
    3) always ask for help
    4) never get behind
    5) DO SCIENCE IN THE NEWS!!
    6) don’t procrastinate
    7) appreciate Ms. Skinner, she’s preparing you for life!

Thank you for everything Ms.Skinner! l am gonna miss you so much! You’re class has been such an experience!

    See ya Chemistry! (SOX 2018)

  2. What I learned from chemistry is to have better study habits. For future chem students, manage you’re time wisely and put in full effort. I feel like I learn better from more hands on stuff, I feel like I benefited from it.

  3. How crazy that chemistry is already over!! I feel like being chemistry really prepared me for the real world!! I learned that I needed to change the way I study and memorize because I couldn’t just learn it for the test and forget about I needed to store it and remember it. The advice I have for future chem students is to not wait last minute and when Mrs.Skinner says something she’s saying it for a reason. What could have helped me a little bit more was doing flashcard the night after doing notes.

  4. Wow what a year it has been! This year in chemistry, I’ve grown so much more in science than I ever have! Also, I learned that if you apply yourself fully in the class, you’ll be just fine. I’m not gonna lie, when I first started chemistry this school year, I was not excited because of what I heard. By at least the 2nd week, I started to really like it and it’s so interesting to me now!! To future chemistry students…..DO ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK! It really does help at the end! Also, don’t procrastinate on studying for tests or you will literally get NOWHERE! Always study more than one night!! What I think would be very beneficial to the class next school year would be to record help sessions and put them on the website for people who can’t be at the help sessions that early in the morning maybe because their parents can’t get them to school because of work or something like that!

Ms. Skinner, thank you so much for all you do and all you have taught me this school year!! I’m so glad I have had you as a teacher this year and I’m pretty sad that this year in chemistry is over! Thank you so much for how much you related Christ to chemistry! It’s always so awesome to me when you do! Thank you so much for an awesome year!!

  5. this year in chem i learned that I do not study that good and I need improvement. the future chem students take good notes and study days prior to the test.

  6. This year I grew smarter and stronger intellectually, and I learned I can push my brain farther. Make sure you do your homework and better prep yourself for the tests. We could have used different methods for different chapters that could have made learning certain things faster and easier. Thank you for being a great chemistry teacher this year!!!

  7. This year I’ve found myself in a state of chaos nearly everyday and somehow I now see that my experience in chemistry plays a part in the development of the better person I will be one day. I was not a great student in my sophomore year here at Northpoint (not even close to being one), but I’ve realized that I still have the opportunity to use this year as a stepping stone. Poor organization had me struggling most of the time and I wish I could talk to the “past me” and tell him to remain faithful through all the anxiety this year brought. I’m usually good at the whole school thing, but I’ve never faced challenges outside of school that would hinder that. Although I’ve learned from a lot of failure, I want to take it, own it, and build upon it.

My advice to upcoming chemistry students would include being the opposite of me this year. Organize yourself. Take notes. Don’t be afraid to talk things out with fellow classmates and Ms. Skinner. (I was.) Remain diligent because you will get tired. Try not to stress about every little thing that may not go your way. Give your best effort whether you have 55% or 110% on any given day. Trust the process and God’s Will for your life most importantly.

Ms. Skinner, I’m not sure if you could have done anything better this year. You’ve not only contributed to our learning and understanding of chemistry, but also prepared us for life with a Christ-like fashion. I will honestly cherish every moment I had this with my class. Thank you so much.

p.s. Don’t just know. Know “why” chem students.

  8. This year I learn new things about myself my study habits the way I take test I also learned a lot about chemistry I found that it’s impissible to wait to the last minute on certain things and to always listen to the teacher when they are given instructions the only thing I can think of to make the class better would be more hands on activities

  9. This year I learned that I need to manage my time wiser.

    Dear Future Chemistry Students,
If there is one thing that I can tell you, it’s to ALWAYS BE CAUGHT UP. SERIOUSLY. And ALWAYS double check your syllabus, because you might miss something extremely important. ALWAYS do your homework and ALWAYS do your best on your labs. Even if you fail a test, your homework and labs (which are practically quiz grades) will keep your average a bit steady. And ask questions! If you’re confused about something, please say something. Remember, a closed mouth never gets fed.

And as for what could’ve been different? Well, for me, if the content wasn’t taught so fast. It wasn’t Speedy Gonzales fast necessarily, but for me it takes a while to comprehend complex material. You may get it faster, but that’s just me.

And remember: Don’t Just Know, Know Why.

    Good Luck! 🙂

  10. Throughout this school year chemistry has taught me to have patience. This patience must be balanced with the ability to not procrastinate. These two characteristics are key to surviving the year. I leave this advice to future chemistry students: DO NOT forget web posts and never wait until the last minute. Your internet may be fine all week and then on friday it stops working. The major thing I could have done differently would have been to study harder and not wait until the last minute for assignments. Anyways, it has been a good year and I can’t wait to see how far what I have learned will take me. Good Luck everyone!

  11. 1. This year was really hard for me but it helped me grow immensely. This class taught me responsibility and how important it is to actually know what you’re doing.

    2. For upcoming chemistry students, I’m really not sure I’m the person to ask for advice but just know you need to be dedicated to succeed in this class which means you can’t procrastinate until Sunday night about homework and thLabs. Good luck.

    3. I think I should have done way more. I shouldn’t have gotten as discouraged when I did bad on a test and kept trying. I should have taken better notes also.

  12. This year was hard and it was especially hard in chemistry, and it helped me learn responsibility, and how to do things for myself. For students who are coming into chemistry I would suggest setting an alarm for every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. saying “web post” with the most annoying sound on, so you don’t forget. Finally to learn more chemistry the thing I could have done was study, I haven’t studied much this year and it has brought me down, and I feel that if I did study my grade would’ve been much better. And last of all this week i rate myself a 4/5.
