Physics 4-30-18 Lenses

PHYSICS: So today we continued to apply what you’ve learned about refraction and played around with thin lenses. Did it remind you of mirrors? Tomorrow lets play a little bit more! 🙂

  1. This week in physics I would rate myself a 5/5 for the first time ever because my group did great on our last design challenge. A triumph of the week was finally being done with high school, but a struggle for the week is having to leave this class. A piece of advice for underclassmen would be to live in the moment because time flies and to not stress over your grades so much that you miss out on having a good time.

  2. I can’t believe this is my last Physics webpost! This year in physics I would say I did pretty well. Turns out the class is a lot more fun than it is made out to be! Although it is a lot of hard work, it is not only very rewarding but also a lot of fun to participate in. I loved all of the experiments, labs, and design challenges we got to do. Although there were times I struggled, I kept working toward my goal and finally accomplished it: I finished Physics! If I had any advice for the younger kids, I would say your biggest ally would be perseverance. Strive to work hard until the end, you will definitely be rewarded! Thanks for a great class Ms. Skinner!

  3. I can’t believe it’s over. This class has been my favorite class I have ever taken. This class has taught me a whole lot more than physics and what I have learned will help me for the rest of my life. The advice I would give to the upcoming class is to not be scared of this class. You have to come in confident that you will do well in this class to do well. I came in scared and I got off to a bad start because I wasn’t confident in myself. You can do well in this class if you put in the work and are confident in yourself.

  4. I can’t believe this is the last time I will ever write a web post for Ms. Skinner. I will give myself my first 5/5 because my team won one of it first design challenges of the year. It has been a challenging, but extremely fun year in physics. My advice to any underclasen would be to challenge yourselves. Many of you are just trying to have the easiest senior year possible and my advice would to do the opposite. Senior year is meant to prepare you for college, and this physics class definitely will do so. You will be stretched and forced to think critically which is a skill you will use for the rest of your life. Even though the class will be very difficult at times, the memories and friendships you make will make it worth it.

  5. It has been one amazing year! I was apprehensive when I first signed up for this class, but it has been a major highlight of my year! The lens activity was really interesting to me, and it helped me to understand how convex lenses affect light from different distances. My greatest piece of advice for underclassmen is to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself. Even if your close friends aren’t taking a class that you are interested in, don’t let that stop you from taking it. You will meet so many new friends and make so many fun memories. Don’t be scared of the challenges Physics has to offer because it will prepare you for the hard classes you will face in college.

  6. This is crazy….. My last web post ever. This week I would rate myself a 5/5. I feel as though I did well this last week of class and the lens activities were a lot of fun. Physics has by far been my favorite class to take as a student at Northpoint. Although it was one of the most challenging classes, it was also one of the most rewarding. It pushed me to a new level that I never thought I could reach. If I could leave one piece of advice to the younger kids, it would be to never settle. Whether it is in athletics, academics, or fine arts, always look for ways to improve. There is always room for improvement and if you are always striving i be better then the sky is the limit. Thanks for the awesome year Ms. Skinner.

  7. Wow! I can’t believe this is the last web post that I will ever write. I would rate myself a 5/5 this week because we ended on a high note with a fun design challenge. Although I have struggled from time to time, this has been my favorite class ever. The piece of advice I would give to the under class men would be “be willing to learn”. You will learn a lot academically but you will learn just as much personally. This class thought me more about myself than any other class ever has. I had to learn to persevere when I failed. It will make you grow as a learner and help you achieve your goals. Thank you for everything this year, Ms. Skinner!
